Great choice!!. We are from out of town, and while visiting family in VT we wanted to stop by the best looking steakhouse type restaurant we could find and after much research decided Sam’s would be a good choice. We were right and we were both highly impressed with the quality and service we received while dining. I didnt know what to think because the reviews said they don’t take reservations and there was a salad bar, but we were seated immediately and the salad bar was phenomenal. My other half thoroughly enjoyed his perfectly cooked med rare Porterhouse steak (a special) and I had the salmon which was also cooked perfectly to my liking. We were too full to enjoy desert but I look forward to stopping at Sam’s again the next time my journeys bring me to VT.
The food was OK, but if it were just about the food, I might be inclined to like this place. However, they don’t take reservations, which is fine, but when 5 people come in and ask how long the wait is, and you say 5 minutes, then it should be at least reasonably close to 5 min. Instead, we waited over an hour, only to find out that the reason it took so long was because they only have certain tables for five people. Then, after we finally ordered, they informed us that they had run out of what we ordered, and had to order something else. In addition, the forks were dirty.
We have been coming to Vermont and the Killington area for 15 years. Sam’s was one of the best restaurants I have been too. The salad bar was superior, the hanger steak was as tender as filet, French onion soup was as Vermont as you can get, and even the apple crisp was wonderful. We did bring our elementary school age kids and it was great for them too! There was a long wait for a table, so call ahead. Perfect for any kind of crowd.
Consistency!. Yes, consistent, reliable good food and friendly service. Usuallyl swamped during the skiing months being 2 min to Okemo Mt. Salad bar is creative and well tended. A comfy, upscale steakhouse
Amazing. I can’t stop thinking about this place! the aged ribeye steak was perfect. the salad bar is reason enough to try to make it back!
Great Food, Salad Bar, and Service. On June 11 Sam’s started offering an early bird special for $11.99. They have BBQ Chicken, BBQ London Broil, Broiled Salmon and another dish which I forget at the moment. The salad bar is included with the meal, and you could make a meal of the salad bar itself. They had mixed greens, macaroni salad, pickled beets, marinated button mushrooms, Couscous, Cole Slaw, Black Olives, Cheese, cottage cheese, pineapple and apple salad, marinated tomatoes, bacon, and more. Plus they had all types of other toppings. And homemade bread… yum.. My salmon was cooked to perfection, not dry nor undercooked. an of course no bones. It was served baked potato and corn on the cob. My grandson had the BBQ chicken and the two breasts had the perfect amount of sauce and also cooked to perfection. It was also served with a baked potato and corn on the cog. We were stuffed, but split an Apple Crisp ala mode.. it was the best I ever had, made with fresh apples.. Recomennd it highly.
Steak was like butter. Nice and tender with good flavor. Could use some peter lugars style side dishes.
