The BBQ platter was old –at least a few days old– and it was warmed up. The chicken was so old it was dry. The only thing eatable on the plate was the salad.
My Favorite Place to Eat in Manchester, VT. I have eaten here over 100 times. The food is always fresh, usually delicious, occasionally only very good. It can be noisy at times, but I’ll put up with it for the great food. Great bar, great people. FRESH!
I started off with a house frozen margarita. Let me just say being from Texas my expectations are high but I was definitely not let down. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, and we will be returning again soon.
You will wait even with a reservation. Expect lots of kids, tipsy aprs skiers, and don’t go with a headache. It is crazy loud. Good margaritas though
Went there with seven of my co workers, has to be the smallest most overpriced fajitas i have ever had in my life. Dont waste your time
There is a very nice selection of tequila here.. But our drive home is a lengthy one, so our beverages of choice would best be beer. A pint of Switchback ($5.25) and a Long Trail Harvest ($5.50) seemed like a good way to start with the basket of both house-made flour and corn chips. We were informed by our friendly server that the Switchback was extra cloudy because the cask had been moved around and the beer was not filtered. She said she’d take it back if we didn’t want it, but there was no need for that since the flavor was great. The Long Trail, however, seemed very watery, almost like a lite beer, even though the flavors were definitely there. The Guacamole Ala Molcajete ($10) is freshly made and very good. It had a bit more lime than we are accustomed to but we still enjoyed it. They say it will serve two, but one person would have no problem finishing it. So, we also shared a half-dozen Sweet and Spicy Chipotle Glazed Wings ($8.50). Not too spicy at all, but good flavors, moist and meaty wings, and messy to eat.For a significant change in pace, my wife decide to try Vegetarian Fajitas ($17) – tofu, grilled veggies & portabellas. The tofu was nicely grilled, and light and tender with just a bit of seasoning on top. The accompanying veggies and mushrooms were tasty, and maybe perfect for a vegan, but I doubt either of us would choose this option again. A second Switchback was called for; it was a lot less cloudy.Since Gringo Jack’s also features their own smoked meats, I thought I would try something along that line. The Slow Smoked Pork Tacos ($17) – 3 flour tortillas stuffed with house slow smoked pulled pork-topped with lettuce, a pineapple habanero salsa and pico. The kitchen was kind enough to substitute white corn tortillas per my request. I didn’t really notice any smoked flavor in the pork. But the tacos were very flavorful with the pineapple habanero salsa, although very messy to eat. The tortillas became soaked at the bottom and ironically a bit brittle for being soft. The black beans and rice served with this dish were average but good. A Victory Hop Devil IPA ($6) rounded out all the flavors of the tacos and made up for the lack of body in the Long Trail.Service was very efficient and friendly. The atmosphere is perfectly Southwestern. If we could just find a designated driver the next time we could work our way through a tasting of some really good tequila!
Fu Fu Mexican. Not really authentic. Pricy. Tacos sucked were greasy. Enchiladas sucked. As did the fajitas. Would be better off going to applebees
