Tourists to Stowe Beware. The waiter was rude….the sirloin steak was as dry and tasteless as Melba Toast. Don’t waste your time or money at this place. I feel any positive review is contrived.

Mediocre at best with prices on the high side for the area. Many other choices available in the Town. Based on experience, some of this place’s review sound contrived.

Fabulous!! What a terrific place. Had the seafood stew….. Perfect! My wife had the lemon chicken , she loved it as well. Deserts were exceptional. Great night, even a great laugh when a bat flew into the restaurant, after several fly bye s fellow diner captured in a towel. The restaurant erupted in applause. We will back again and again!

Great ambiance, expectations unmet. We arrived with high expectations. The staff was indeed welcoming and the ambiance was lovely — great feeling in the dining room. It’s clear that this place aims for a lovely upscale dining experience. However, the portion sizes are simply too big for this kind of restaurant. In our mains, both my companion and I found we had twice as much food as we needed — the duck dish is literally half a duck! We had to pack up half the main, and we both skipped dessert and coffee because we were simply too stuffed. For the same price, I would have preferred half as much food and better quality. The kitchen also made basic errors — my companion’s vegetables were served cold. Cucumber yogurt dressing on the lamb kefta was watery and flavourless. The sweet potato mash was oversweet—think pumpkin pie filling—and had a babyfood-like consistency. It’s unfortunate, because the kitchen shows some potential. The duck skin was suitably crisp, and the pork shank was fork-tender and fell off the bone beautifully.Maybe this restaurant should scale back its menu and focus on the basics. A for effort, B- for result.

Casual and Elegant. The Bistro has a wonderful atmosphere for the casual, elegant diner. Drinks at the bar or in front of the fire place brings a feeling of camaraderie as you are sure to find a friend or, better yet, make a new one. The menu is diverse yet cohesive with something for everyone.Whether you are dining with friends and family, or holding a ladies’ night out, make sure The Bistro is your destination

Ten Acres…back and better than ever!. It’s been ten years since I last dined at Ten Acres. I’m so pleased that the new Bistro at Ten Acres means that this Stowe landmark is back and better than ever. The new owners have struck the perfect combination of warmth, welcoming and comfort while still feeling that you’ve entered somewhere special. The decor and the menu are vibrant and interesting and, at the same time, familiar – a definite plus when dining as a family. After enjoying only one meal there thus far, but sampling around the table, I can report that the mussels, shrimp, duck and sirloin could not have been better and the Bliss Cabernet described the entire experience…Bliss!
