Amazing Sandwiches, Service, Attention to Customers!. We asked a local friend for advice on a gourmet grocery, and she said Greenwood. We went there and we were in heaven! Great wines, beers, cheeses, local produce, wonderful breads, and amazing sandwiches. They have the coke without corn syrup, the real Ginger Ale, great gelato and ice cream, an amazing selection of gourmet groceries, just like the name says it. We liked the sandwiches so much, we went back in the afternoon, with another family. They liked everything as well, the sandwiches, the wines, the beer, the drinks, the ice cream sandwiches we had there. We enjoyed the outside patio and had our late lunch there. The owner, David, was so kind! He came out and gave us fresh Mutsu apples, a huge muscat grape, he was so tactfully generous, he made us feel just wonderful! In two days we visited Greenwood three times, we felt so good about everything we experienced there!

Overpriced. The Greenwood Gourmet Grocery has a fairly nice selection of wines, cheeses, beers and other gourmet items. However the prices seem to be 30%-40% higher than other local shops and many of the items are stale. Price gouging local people… Thumbs down.

Over-priced, mediocre. The food in the case looked like it had been there for more than a few days. There were a lot of over-priced items for sale just collecting dust. One wonders what kind of store are they trying to be? I had an egg salad with bacon. The bacon was musty and there was too much mayo, overwhelming the egg. Very disappointing.

Best sandwiches in Cville. This place is the best. Better than Feast!, better than the Bellair Markets; this special little store blows Eppie’s and Baggby’s out of the water. So many unique and delicious finds here, and yeah, sort of expensive, but for a reason (local fresh artisinal, etc. etc. etc.). Not to mention the awesome beer and wine selection and the quality (free) wine tastings they do on Saturdays between 12 and 5.Try the Melrose–a panini with grilled portobella mushrooms, red onion, homemade pimento cheese, arugula–it will blow your mind.I have had every sandwich except, you guessed it, the egg salad that another reviewer called mediocre. Can’t speak to that one–but I can attest to the all of the rest–fresh, local, best quality meats, consistently awesome every. single. time.Oh, and nice people, too.

I have and always will be coming to Greenwood for Groceries as well as coffee and subs, the people are very genuinely good people, if your new to charlottesville & Ivy/Crozet and want a good example of how the ‘people’ are here in this area.. This is one of the best examples 🙂 one truely great place!

Best of the Best. The only thing you can not find at Greenwood Gourmet Grocery is a public rest room! Unfortunately, they are restricted by zoning laws and cannot provide one. That said, I would venture to say that GGG serves the very best coffee/latte, the best baked goods, the most interesting and delicious sandwiches, and has the most extraordinary selection of wines, cheese, beers, canned-goods, frozen organic meats/food, beautiful trinkets/stationary, and has the most friendly service ANYWHERE! Wonderful carering, Wine-tasting every weekend. Fabulous garden pots and plants. ETC. ETC. Great Sunday destination (near intersection of 250/Rt 64 at Exit 107). Can you tell I’m a huge fan of Greenwood Gourmet?
