We used to go to RR all the time. I was a fan for almost 18 years. And this one used to be pretty good. Not any more. They have cheapened the food and the management is horrible, so they can’t keep good wait staff. And, forget kitchen staff!! it now takes forever for food to come out of the kitchen. The food is prefab and is horrible. Red Robin chain has been thru multiple ownership changes. Nobody cares anymore. We will never go back.

Things have changed a bit since i was here last, years ago now. It’s still alright food, but I would choose another spot over this one in hindsight. I had the bonsai burger which was okay and the side salad was a disappointment. My mom liked her food. Service was great.

I saw an employee walk directly out of a toilet stall and back to the kitchen without even stopping to think about washing his hands. Needless to say, I’ll never go back again. There’s too much good food and good service in Charlottesville to waste your time and money here.

Horrible Red Robin Experience. Saturday was my younger daughter’s 9th birthday. She chose Red Robin for her birthday dinner, in part because she loves that they sing to you and would bring her a sundae for her birthday. My two daughters and I arrived at the restaurant at 7pm, and were seated by 7:05. The table they gave us joined another table, however there were several tables for 4 around us that were unoccupied, so I asked if we could take one of those tables. The hostess said that would be fine. Our waitress came and took our drinks order. I told her then we were celebrating my younger daughter’s 9th birthday. She asked if we would want them to sing to my daughter and I said that she would love that. The 4th member of our party joined us at 7:15, and we ordered at that time. The waitress came back about 20 minutes later with an order of fries, and explained that she was watching for our order, but that we could have the fries in the meantime. She did bring me an additional drink, and a refill for my daughter. 15 minutes later, another waitress who had been serving the nearby tables approached us unsolicited to asked us if we needed anything and said she would try to check up on our food. The longer it took for our food to come, the more anxious my 9 year old became, because she knew we were going to Build-a-Bear Workshop in the mall as part of her birthday, and she was worried it would close before we could get there. We watched while other diners around us were seated after us, got their food, and were gone before our food even arrived. Our food was finally brought out at 8:10, 55 minutes after we had ordered it. To make matters worse, my burger was cold! I asked to speak to the manager at that time, it took her more than 5 minutes to get to the table. I explained the situation…and that we had a time issue to get to Build-a-Bear before it closed. She offered to have them remake my burger and bring it to the store, but eating my meal in the mall, or later at home wasn’t really the plan for evening. We had to eat our meal quickly, which clearly wasn’t the plan. The manager came back with a $3 coupon for us, and took my meal off the bill. I was frankly shocked that she didn’t offer more to us, considering the situation. The waitress brought my daughter her dessert in a take-away cup, clearly no singing or attempt at all to recognize her birthday. As I was leaving, I asked the hostess for the corporate information for follow-up, after 5 minutes of waiting for that, we left. To say that this experience ruined my daughter’s birthday is not understating the situation. My child had looked forward all week to this dinner and this evening, and ended up being worried and apologizing to us for choosing Red Robin. My children have requested birthday dinners at Red Robin for years…it has been a place where we go to celebrate family events, graduations, end-of-school, etc. but I can’t see us ever returning after our most recent experience. The waitress was very nice, but seemed frazzled and over-her-head. At one point, she explained that there was a large sports team eating in a back room, but that would not explain why other diners (with parties of 4 or 5) seated after us got their food long before us. The offer of a $3 coupon considering the wait time and the fact that my food was cold was not nearly enough to make up for our experience. I am extremely angry that the actions of the restaurant spoiled my daughter’s birthday.

Most Awesome service ever had here. Busy, busy, busy. Managers and staff took great care of us!!!!!15 Apr, 2012Chicken teruyuki sandwich was okay. Server really tried hard to make visit nice. Minor issue with bill settled quickly and received free dessert for the inconvience.

Other comments about the service are spot on. I walked in and there was no hostess to seat us. Multiple servers made eye contact but walked past without even greeting us. Finally a server came up and told us she didnt know where the hostess was. We were sat next to a table that was currently having their drink order taken. The server didnt take our order, but said she would return, apparently after getting drinks for the other table. By the way, this was a server who ignored us at the door. She should know we had been waiting. We decided to leave without eating. On the way out, I informed the slack-jawed manager of the situation and our decision to leave. He muttered an apology and walk off. I was a loyal customer here, but I will not be returning.
