I’m surprised shadwells does not have a much higher rating. The wait staff here are incredibly friendly and do an outstanding job. I also feel that the food is by far some of the highest quality in the Charlottesville area.
Good food. Terrible service. Only time we saw our waitress was when we gave our order and when she brought our check. No bread, never checked to see if meal ok or if we needed anything, never even glanced our way to see if water needed refilling which it did. Expected more from an upscale restaurant.

After my steak arrived cold, and having ordered a glass of wine that never arrived, I had no appetite for a dessert and will not return to the restaurant.
Don’t bother!. After hearing and reading all kinds of good things about this place my husband and I decided to venture out and try a new place for our 20th wedding anniversary. We had heard it was upscale so we dressed accordingly. As soon as we entered we knew we had picked the wrong place! Nothing fancy about it! Diners were even in ripped T-shirts and dirty shorts!! The food sucked! That’s all I can say is it sucked! The prices are high but the quality is terrible! I ordered a fillet minion topped with crab and a lemon cream sauce with garlic mashed potatoes and when it arrived, I could hardly find my fillet because it was so small!! I swear it wasn’t much bigger than the size of a golf ball! There might have been a half teaspoon of crabmeat on top and the sauce was thick, lumpy and cold! My husband ordered the Mahi Mahi which typically is a thick cut of fish and when it arrived it was about a quarter of an inch think and very over cooked! This place simply sucks! Save your money and dine at Outbacks!
We went to this restaurant based on the recommendation of our hotel’s front desk staff. The location was convenient, but I can’t say that it was a good recommendation. The place was busy, which is always a good sign, but I don’t think it was worth the price we paid. My steak was over cooked and our service was spotty (needing to request a steak knife, dinners not delivered at the same time). The $70 bill for our meal didn’t seem like money well spent and I can’t even think of one thing that was good enough to redeem this place.
