Best gourmet Italian kid friendly. This restaurant was fine dining with fresh home made pasta offering great selection for foodies and kids. We enjoyed the chef special while the kids devoured the chic Parma, and raviolini. I tried all these meals and they were great prices reasonable to quality of food
Not impressed. Went here on a date with my boyfriend for our birthdays. The location is wonderful and the restaurant is quaint, but the food was not good at all. The chicken Parmesan was simply a chicken breast with red sauce (no pasta) and the manicotti left a lot to be desired. Also, the prices were far too high for what you got. I would not recommend this place.
Tourist Trap. My husband and I ate here during a recent visit to the area. We checked out the menu they had posted outside only to find the prices were different inside. The place was really busy so we thought that was good sign, we were wrong. The food was awful. I could have made better italian from a can sauce and ready to cook pasta. Our server seemed to be trying but still fell short of the mark for decent service. They had so many employees running around I couldn’t understand why no one would refill my water. They only entertainment we had was watching the man delivering bread to the tables touch all over the bread en route to a table, every single time! I wish I would have noticed that before we ate some of ours. Needlessly to say, it was a complete tourist trap.
Decent wine and food. Get a window seat.
Not quite. You can put red and white checkered tableclothes everywhere, but that doesn’t make your restaurant good Italian dining. Service was fine, but food was not. Very generic. I had some kind of pasta primavera, and the veggies were all mushy and left a puddle of dirty-looking pasta water at the bottom of my plate. Wine and beer selection is also poor. And tables are too close together.
Disappointing…Don’t bother to go… In a prime location of Old Town, this restaurant just misses it completely. My husband & I knew something was up, when we noticed that several of the restaurants we walked by were full of people every where & Il Porto was rather empty. We tried to get into 2 other restaurants first but everything had a wait time. Ready for dinner, we decided to give Il Porto a try since there was no wait time & empty tables. Empty tables in a restaurant with a restaurants around it completely full = something wrong. Something wrong indeed. Our salads came out first & they were not only not appetizing visually, they were just not good. Very bland & just rather a mess to look at. Then came our entrees. I got the fetuccine alfredo. Mediocre at best. My husband got the Fruit di Mare pasta plate, only it had no pasta, just sauce & seafood pieces. Rather odd. My husband commented that the scallops were rubbery & had a bad after taste. With the appetizers & entrees having not worked out, we skipped dessert & left vowing never to come back. We’d strongly recommend passing by this place. Places like Olive Garden & Macaroni grill do better justice to Italian food than this place.
