Bland. I was disappointed. Ribs didn’t have much taste or sauce. Sides were very subpar. For the price (around 20 bucks) I would expect much more. Chain restaurant Famous Dave’s is much better.
Poor quality take-out. The 8:30pm closing time should have warned me. This place is more like a BBQ take-out joint than a restaurant. And seriously, it was not very good and poor value if you expect more than a sandwich. The half rack of baby spare ribs was on the dry side, did not taste that good, and the sauce was far from enjoyable. With 2 small sides it was $17, and it was served in paper boxes with plastic cuttlery. I had a larger (plated) serving which tasted fantastic at Mike’s American Grill for $20.The pulled pork and the beans were the better choice, but not by far. The pork tasted good but was also fairly dry, the beans had the right sour/sweet balance. The brisket sandwich was ok.Go there only if you are looking for a quick take-out sandwich.
Ribs and brisket were tough. Went early (30 min after opening) don’t know if I was served yesterdays food or not…this was the second time going.
Good stuff. If you like tangy, saucy, bbq… This is the place for you. You can smell the smoke before you even walk in the door. We got the three meat plate and an order of spare ribs. The ribs were very good… good char, meaty, and the sauce compliments the smoke without overpowering it. The pulled pork and chicken were also delicious but I thought the brisket was a little fatty. Like more sauce? There’s a warm pot in the dining area to help yourself. Like it spicy? Every table has a cluster of hot sauces to choose from and they are all diferent. I didn’t know there were that many hot sauces lol. Overall, I thought it was good. If we are in the area again, we will probably be back.
Solid, if not forgettable.
Areas best Barbecue. Great ribs, chicken and sides. Run don’t walk
Best BBQ in DC. Personally, I think this is probably the best BBQ in DC. The food has a nice smoky flavor because it they use only wood in a big cooker on the outside of the store. The great items that I have tried are the Beef Brisket sandwich, the Chopped Pork sandwich, the Spareribs. Yum. As for the sides, I have tried the baked beans (which are a bit tart/sour) and they mashed potatoes, which are good. There is a cauldron of BBQ that is kept warm for you, so you grab extra sauce if you want. They also give out free salt-free peanuts in the restaurant, which are in a basket for you to grab.I go to the one in Alexandria.
