The food here is authentic and made with top notch ingredients. My wife got the only vegetarian dish and the veggies were bursting with flavor. The servers were also very courteous and professional. Go on a nice day and sit outside!
Excellent food and ambience. The family that owns it makes you feel like your welcomed into their home. We would definitely come back here again.
Happiest time in some years. Taverna Cretekou is in the middle of s busy block on King Street in old town alexandria. However its a delightful Greek restaurant that has an amazing ownership — how they treat large and small parties is exceptional – and the most delightful back yard patio dining I’ve ever seen. The owners were obviously in the middle of a very busy private party but made sure that we were well accommodated. We were seated outside, a delightful beautiful garden. Our server, Dino, made us laugh the entire time we were there. He brought us the most amazing Mediterranean Sea Bass, lamb shank, and dinners for our children. Our family has never been quite so well served. Our daughter and future son in law were treated like royalty.It actually felt as though we had spirited to the Greek Isles for the afternoon! BRAVO!
Pick this place!. We were in town for a wedding, had spent the day sightseeing, and were looking for a good place to have dinner around 7:30 PM on Saturday night. We tried to get a meal at several different restaurants, but most could not fit 8 people or the wait was more than an hour. We stopped by Taverna Cretekou and the owner beamed at the size of our family, found a table for us instantly, and had an energetic and very personable waiter bring warm bread and ice water immediately. We tried a large selection of appetizers and main dishes. Everything was excellent, especially the fresh fish, the octopus, and the lamb dishes. The staff was attentive and the atmosphere relaxing. We were starving when we arrived, very content when we finished the meal. We were unfortunately so full that we were not able to try any desserts, which looked wonderful as they were carried past us to other diners. The price for this opulent meal, plus a few glasses of ouzo, was very reasonable, and the staff allowed us to stay as long as we wished. We would definitely choose this restaurant again!
A Pittsburger who loves Taverna Cretekou (since the 70’s). My family and I have been eating at TC since the 1970’s when I was a student at GMU.. Most trips to the metro DC area include lunch or dinner at this excellent Greek Restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and the staff are usually attentive. Highly recommended! We have always enjoyed our experiences dining here. We plan to return soon
