This is a sports bar in North Arlington, right across the street from the Ballston Metro stop. I stopped here tonight (Wednesday) at about 6:00pm to have a beer and buffalo wings. I have seen other reviews commenting about how great the buffalo wings were rated, so I figured I would try for myself. I sat at the bar and ordered six wings with medium heat buffalo sauce. My order literally arrived two minutes later. What I later found out was that on Wednesdays, wings are part of the happy hour special (all you can eat wings for $19.99), so that was sort of a bonus. These wings did not disappoint. They were crispy and dressed perfectly. Not much more to say other than these were definitely some of the best wings Ive had in this area. The wait staff was pleasant and efficient. I left around 6:30pm and most of the tables and seats at the bar were full, so consider arriving before 6:15pm to get seated quicker.

If you love wings, this is the place to go. Awesome wings and a great environment to watch sports. All the wing flavors I’ve tried are pretty good, but the Honey Garlic and CJ’s Sriracha wings are real standouts
Less offensive than franchise bars, but still not great. Beer and tvs are pretty much the same anyplace, including my livingroom, so sports bars really need to offer something else to get me out, and this one doesn’t. Our bartender was nice enough, but kind of a burnout. And the female bartender really needed more clothes on – this isn’t a beach bar. I had the philly cheesesteak which was just average. Everything else on the menu looked too fried and greasy to even consider ordering. All in all, I’d rather give my business to local places like this instead of big chain sports bars, but I still won’t rush to go back.
Three and out.. I’ve tried to like First Down, but like going for it on 4th and 5, it just comes up short. They have all the elements for success, lotsa TV’s, burgers, wings, and beer, but not the magic to pull it together. Pretty much every time I’ve been there the service is slow and inattentive. The wing sauces are either way too hot, or just lack flavor. The burgers are boring and even the curly fries can’t make me smile. Maybe I’ll go for it more time, but if you don’t convert…..time for the bench.
First Down!!. I went to this bar when it was Buffalo D’s and it was quite empty all the time. They have since switched ownership and management and turned this place into a great hangout. Cheap beer, cheap good food and sauce selection for wings much like a Buffalo Wild Wings. Watch out for the Fire sauce it’s HOT!!! Got there at 3:30PM and it was pretty crowded. By 10:30/11PM is was the place to be. If you’re looking to find lots of women in a sports bar atmosphere it’s the place to be. They also have the punching bag game, Buck Hunter, Silver Strike, Golden Tee, Foosball and Shuffleboard.
