I have been twice in the past couple months and both times the food was very good, the service was friendly but not intrusive and the ambiance was authentic and inviting. Both times we were the only ones there. Usually this is a sign that the restaurant is not very good but that is not true in this case. This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant.
The Lebanese food stands are way better. This is a truly awful restaurant. Stale pita bread was only the beginning. Tasteless food, overpriced and a waitress who knew she would get an awful tip tried to sneak it by us in the bill. Avoid at all costs.

Elegant and Inviting. All the previous reviews have said everything that is unique and special about this place. One good reason the food maintains such high marks is the Rima (wife and owner) continues to supervise the Syrian chief. Our special platter came with a garlic sauce. Nothing over powering in flavor and all dishes blended so well together. I really don’t think you could go wrong with anything you ordered from a tried and true menu. Try the White Coffee after dinner unique to Lebanese cuisine and settling to the stomach after a large meal. Vegetable appetizers were nicely prepared and presented with Pita bread. Lots of history and family photos hanging here on the walls. VERY friendly, knowledgeable and helpful wait staff! Enjoy. Hookah room available after restaurant closes and guest leave. Frequented by Middle East embassy personal and visiting dignitaries
This place is amazing! I can’t even talk about the decor – it is perfect! Breathtaking & lovely! The food is to die for! I love that they have the typical & often over exposed typical Lebanese mezzas & dishes, but also some very creative combinations. I only wish they had kibbeh nayeh all the time, but it actually forced me to try some new things. If you like foul m’damas, try the foul bel laden. You’ll be pleased!
Our favorite. Layalina is our favorite local restaurant. We eat there 2-3 times a month, and are never disappointed. The food is authentic middle eastern, and so is the decor. They have a good wine selection and the deserts are not to be missed!!The high quality of the food is only surpassed by the quality of the service. The owners/chefs always come out to greet us and offer suggestions on the evenings fare. It feels like we have been invited to a friends house for dinner.
Humble, but delicious!. From the outside the cozy Layalina restaurant doesn’t look like anything special. Once you pass through the humble front door, however you are suddenly among faded photographs of the owner with old Washington elite – a veritable who’s who of national and international politics.Although the pictures may have faded the quality of the cuisine that brought them there certainly has not. Any fan of middle eastern food will recognize the old stanbys – babaganouj, grape leaves, and others. My lamb shank/roast (I can’t remember the actual name) was cooked to perfection. Desert followed with traditional baklava – doused with rose water – a tasty addition often left out by other restaurants. The dcor is appealing – traditional fabrics and lighting fixtures dangle from the walls and ceiling. The only downed is the limited space for seating – capacity probably maxes out at about 60. On a Friday night anticipate waiting a bit. However if you’re out for a pleasant weeknight dinner or celebrating an important occasion you’ll find Layalina to be a great fit.-S
