Awful Experience. Terrible experience. We ordered $56 of food for pick up this evening and ended up throwing 90% of it away. Even our two boys who will eat almost anything were unable to choke it down. Spaghetti was soggy and covered in an inch of cheese. Lasagna had one thin sheet of pasts and was just cheese. 7 layer dip and chili were EXACTLY the same thing and guacamole was watery and inedible. Truly awful experience. Almost like we were being punked. Stay away!
Disappointed. Ate on a Sunday afternoon and while the restaurant was busy, we were seated almost immediately. –One must talk very loudly to hear others in one’s party. Extremely noisy – perhaps due to the very high ceilings.–Burro Pie – excellent; very very thin whole wheat crust covered with black bean dip mixed with mozzarella & cheddar cheese. It came with a tiny container of sour cream and another of pico de gallo. The pico de gallo, however, tasted like sweet bbq sauce and we skipped both.–The Hound Dog Specialty Sandwich – chicken bbq on one side of a big hoagie sandwich and coleslaw spread on the other 1/2 of the hoagie covered with melted swiss cheese (although tasted like provolone). The cheese did not add anything and I’d recommend requesting that it be omitted.–Red Dog Dip – unique combination of feta cheese and red pepper. Tasty and served cold with pita slices and tortilla chips.–Green Dog Dip – spinach and artichoke dip served with tortilla chips and pita slices. Was served tepid instead of piping hot. Rather than have a rich taste, it was very spinachy. Didn’t detect any mayo. On the up side, it was probably much lower in calories than the same dish served elsewhere. I don’t recommend ithis appetizer.–Lost Dog Dip – made the mistake of ordering it without chili since the Cafe’s chili contained meat. One must go next door to the Stray Cat Cafe to get the non-vegetarian chili in this 7 layer dip. Without the chili, only shredded lettuce, cheese, and olives remained and were served with tortilla chips. Although the menu stated that this Dip contained guacamole and pico de gallo served with it, there was no guacamole or pico de gallo in the dip. I don’t recommend this appetizer.–Italian Fries – Menu stated that the fries were oven-baked, but the waffle-looking fries appeared to have been fried at some point because they were greasy. Still, they tasted fine. Healthwise, oven-baked is a far cry from fried. Our waitstaff was new and could not say for sure.
Great beer selection; decent pizza; crowded; terrible for parking
So-so. We were visiting the area for spring break and decided to try based on the reviews. Loved the name and thought the decor/ambience was awesome! The tremendous menu also had us very excited. We were seated immediately, and that is where the good went bad. We were there for 15 minutes before our server decided to present herself to our table. Not very personable, she seemed to care less that we were there! We ordered drinks and an appetizer, but when we wanted to add an item, we had to wait a while, then track our server down. In fact, each time we had a question or needed to place an order, we had to locate the server and try several times to get her attention. When the food came to our table, we were surprised at the generous serving for an individual order of fries and wished she had advised us so. Our son ordered an individual pizza that came to the table with a very soggy crust (in fact, it was dripping water! Quite odd!). When we flagged her down to express our concern, she whisked it off the table and left before we could tell her not to remake it. We had a plane to catch and were going to ask if he could have a sandwich to go. Instead, we had another interminable wait for another pizza to be made and then had to ask her to prepare it to go. The sandwiches my husband and I had were good, but not good enough to overcome the soggy pizza or the poor indifferent service. I hope ours is the exception, not the rule, but we would not recommend this restaurant.
Still outstanding. Glad to get back in town to an old favorite!
Long time favorite! Best sandwiches in the area, my favorite is The Democrat. Great pizzas, just the right amount of sauce and you can request fresh mozzarella. Am happy to see that there is now more than one location.
Everything we tried had too much dog semen in it…and I’ve been to asia!
