I really wanted to like this place because I became addicted to their Crispy Brussel Sprouts! My co-worker went here for lunch and we both ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts and the mussels in wine and the mussels with mushrooms. I had the mussels with mushrooms. The Brussels were to DIE FOR! But the mussels were HORRIBLE! Bland and underwhelming. This is called the mussels bar right? The waiter first brought out 2 wine mussels. He apologized and brought out my mussels with mushrooms. My coworker started eating hers before mine came out and was very disappointed. She said they were boring. I was hoping mine would taste good since it had the bacon, mushroom and truffle. When it came out it looked the same as hers but with some bacon and mushrooms on top. Mine was just as boring. Anyway, i returned back 2x just to order the Brussel sprouts to go. Yesterday will be my last time. The Brussel sprouts come with dried cherries which really adds to the dish. When i got home geared up to eat my Brussels I realized something was missing and there were no cherries. I was annoyed and disappointed. I called the restaurant back and spoke with the manager. His responses were unprofessional and condescending. Here are his responses: You can come back and I will give you a handful of cherries, then i told him i was Home already and what i do coming back to get a handful of cherries? The next response was you can come back and i will give you $2. WHAT???? What do I look like coming back to get $2??? He should have said I’m sorry for the inconvenience and the next time you come back I will give you a complementary order of Brussels and will make sure it’s done right. That would be a better and more professional response because he would still be bringing me back as a customer. Now there’s no reason for me to come back anymore. My hubby is an executive chef, I will get him to make it or show me how.
Very much enjoyed a delightful restaurantweek lunch at this bar in an upbeat and upscale atmosphere. Relished enjoying the signature dish of WhiteWine Mussels. These HUGE fresh musselswere sitting in a broth flavored with Roast Garlic, Lemon, Parsley, Cream and aside order of fries. This was amemorable treat. Even found half a garlichead that was boiled in the broth and ate every clove (yum). Lots of broth that deserved soak up with theperfect bread that keep coming to my table. Billy, my waiter wasfantastic. Very personable and attentiveto my needs!!!The real surprise to me was the freshanchovies that were laced on top of my first dish which was a Kale Caser Saladsprinkled with ground parmesan and freshly prepared garlic croutons and groundblack pepper. The meal was finished witha richly flavored Salted Caramel Pudding that was accompanied with Bourbon WhipCream and Almond Shortbread Crumble that was highly recommended by Billy. Topped the meal off with a rich cup of FrenchPressed Coffee. For take out to my wifeand daughter I ordered Truffle & Mascarpone Polenta consisting of localMushrooms and Parmesan and also a small serving of Ginger Braised Pork Meatball(nice coarsely ground) made with spicy mango, tomato sauce and lemon-grass basmati rice. They both loved the dishes. A great meal and atmosphere for a one on one businessdinner or with a special partner. I will return here to see what the kitchenhas in store for me the next time.
I love the mussels at Mussel Bar! The different varieties that they have have all been excellent with my favorite being the wild mushroom; pork belly and mushrooms in a cream sauce – yummy! The frites are also very good, although at times better than others. And the sauces for the Frits are also very good. On other trips the other menu choices have been great, however the mussels are worth the visit by themselves.
Great atmosphere, food and beer selection.
