Awesome place for Sushi….!
We had a light dinner before seeing a movie a few evenings ago. I can’t speak for the rest of the menu but what we had was excellent. Service is prompt and attentive our sushi came out quickly (spicy scallop and a candy cane roll) and the seafood pancake arrived crispy and hot from the griddle and full of tender octopus.
Shiki Sushi, Arlington, VA. In two words: good but overpriced. We are diehard sushi aficionados and have been sampling sushi restaurants for over 25 years.I bought a discounted coupon for Shiki Sushi through Living Social. We used it tonight. Dinner was hardly the bargain that I’d hoped for. In fact, Shiki Sushi gouged us. I was charged $4 for a pot of tea. When I asked for a second pot, the waitress told me that she wasn’t permitted to replace the tea bag, The restaurant didn’t provide any amenities at all-no miso soup, no salad-not even a slice of orange at the conclusion of the meal. Each item was about $2.00 over what other metropolitan DC sushi bars charge. Our $50 food allowance was gone in a blink. Surprisingly, the booze prices are reasonable, particularly so when discounted specials are offered. Tonight, 12 oz Japanese beer was $3.00, a good value. Although the quality of the food was acceptable, I’ll NEVER go back there again.
I just recently moved here to Ballston and this is definately my new favorite sushi place. I tried a couple other places and blah…not so much. They have what is now my favorite sushi roll. The Caterpillar…mmm sooo delicious trust me on this one. Also, they carry Toro (fatty tuna meat from the belly) which can be a good indicator of a sushi place. They don’t have it on the normal menu, so you have to ask. Enjoy!!!
