My husband and I arrived to Chicks beach late one evening and wanted to get a lite meal. We walked to Bouy 44 and decided to try it. We had an awesome meal and our waitress was phenomenal. The food was abundant. We ordered the blue cheese homemade potato chips for an appetizer and the serving size was too much for the two of us to share, but were so good that I was not able to finish my main dish – fish tacos, which were also extremely tasty! We were both impressed by the quality of the food as well as the service. The place was impeccably clean and I really liked the view of the bay. The wine selection was not bad either and the prices were average and appropriate for the area. I had read a negative review on this site about this restaurant and had to convince my husband to try it because of that negative review but we are both very glad that we decided to make our own decision rather than rely on someone else’s opinion. The valet service is a bonus and free because parking can be quite limited at the beach front. Sometimes I wonder if really negative reviews are written by the competitors……..I noticed that the most negative review was written twice by the same person……
I hated this place. The waitress that served us had an open sore on her lip…appeared high and drugged up. The food was soft as mush…I drank my damn fish. The prices were very very steep…never again. I also had to valet my car while nobody was even in the place…..
Much better than this rating shows. I thought this place was really good. We went for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed ourselves. The service was prompt and friendly. The mimosa for $2 was yummy. The she-crab soup was not the best I’ve ever had but still good. My veggie omelet was fresh tasting and served with potatoes and a yummy blueberry muffin. My husband enjoyed his crab benedict. The chips with blue cheese and balsamic were the standouts. Really tasty. It was too cool to use the outside patio but the area was pleasant with great views and a real plus for me did not allow smoking! We will definitely be going back.
Dirty Kitchen. I worked in this restaurant, and reasons like this are why I left. This compiled all around the server station before I began doing their job.
Despite the reviews, and Boy was Happy. Chose this place for a birthday celebration. We sat outside which was beautiful. We were seated immediately, and quickly greeted by our server. Calamari was tasty andcrispy. Fish tacos sulucent & yummy, shrimp tacos w/a kick, Fish & chips did not disappoint either. Will go back!
Sunday night dinner for 5. Carried some of our friday nite people back .dinner for 5 on sunday – another try.had fried shrimp – cole slaw and taters – greathad tuna special…………………………………greathad taco shrimp………………………………….greatand two ladies had special salads…………great.cons:still noisywith the shrimp they served something called cocktail sauce – @ 70 i have eaten lots of cocktail sauce, but none ever like that crap………looked and tasted like barbecue sauce with some ketchup added…no lemon detected nor horseradish……god it was bad.
Great Location but Terrible Food. My husband and I decided to try out Buoy 44 on a Saturday night. We were able to get a table right away but were seated in the bar area, the music/tvs combined with the bar crowd made it so loud we could barely have a conversation. We ordered the watermelon salad to start and were very let down. The menu described Crisp greens, Halloumi, Watermelon, Strawberries, Israeli Cous Cous & Balsamic Vinaigrette what we got was dramatically different. The server brought out some watermelon chunks mixed in some romaine lettuce with a couple of strawberries. There was no Cous Cous and I expected better greens. The dressing was not even close to a balsamic vinaigrette. When we said something to the server he apologized but did nothing else. We won’t be back. A great view won’t make up for bad food and service.
