Crispy Fried Oysters. The best I’ve ever had. I crave this appetizer!
Ok but not a fan. The veal meatloaf was very rich. Green beans were pretty good. She crab soup was good but not very hot (temp) and the mezzaluna salad was ok.Thought the salad was over priced. Service was ok but she was not attentive.Better options in Norfolk but it is ok.
Less then impressed!. I took my husband here to try their Sunday Brunch. Needless to say when we walked in all the waitstaff/hostesses were at talking at the bar. Place was not busy at all, when the hostess finally did see us they sat us promptly however; after we ordered drinks did someone finally mention to my husband that they have a no hat policy inside. This was not mentioned by the hostess but by our waitress after she brought us our beverages. So they wanted to be sure we spent money before we walked out. While sitting at the table I noticed a woman wearing a ball cap walk out. After we were told that there was a no hat policy. This only applied to men, at which point I felt was very sexist. We decided to take our business elsewhere. Not to mention the waitress screwed up my drink order and still charged us.
Great Food / Substandard Service. Food was absolutely amazing! The bacon-wrapped tenderloin was perfectly seasoned and melted in my mouth. My wife had a seafood platter with one of the best crab cakes I’ve ever tasted. The service was mediocre at best. The waiter seemed very professional and knowledgeable about the menu, but he never smiled the entire time we were there. My wife asked for a sweet tea. As it turns out, they don’t serve sweet tea, but instead of telling her this, he brought her an unsweetened tea and a handful of sugar packets. This is the kind of thing I have come to expect from fast food restaurants, but at these prices I expect more.Overall, the quality of the food made up for the bad service, so my experience was okay, but it would have been much better if we had gotten decent service. I’ll probably give them a second chance just because of the food, but if I get service like that again, it will probably be my last visit.
Best happy hour in downtown this far. A few friends and I came in on a weekday after work and will keep doing so. If you haven’t had a fried green tomato this is the place to go. Upbeat and professional atmosphere.
A Norfolk must!. I took advantage of a beautiful early spring day and dined al fresco. The server was attentive and efficient. The food was amazing…I have had several fish tacos in my lifetime from California to Mexico and let me say that the fish tacos at the 219 are by far the BEST I have ever had…please check this place out!
I’ve only been here for brunch. They have a great bloody Mary bar and delicious French toast and omelettes!
