We ate at Bite for the first time last Friday night. The food was delicious, although the chioppino could have used more spice, especially garlic. Service was decidedly very, very casual, but was perfect for the energy of the crowd.
Great first visit!. My husband and I stopped in here when Buffalo Wild Wings was entirely too packed before an Admirals game we were on our way to. I’m SO glad they were because it got us to try Bite (which was actually on my wishlist anyway)! We’d had a heavy lunch so our waitress suggested maybe splitting a couple of appetizers or an entree (smart move – some places would never suggest that). We opted for the fried calamari and sauteed shrimp from their February dinner menu. The calamari was nice and light, but still crispy and very flavorful. The sauteed shrimp dish was UNBELIEVABLE! The shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked and the sherry garlic sauce was absolutely amazing! Our waitress was super friendly. I was especially impressed with the cordial, professional way she (and management) handled a hard-to-please elderly woman who was dining near us. A sure sign of great customer service. I look forward to a repeat visit when we get a chance!
Visited for the first time last night. The new menu changed from an interesting mix of well reviewed dishes to overcooked, bland burgers and fries. If this restaurant has heart, it sure doesn’t show it with this menu. Will not go back for these choices.
FIX THE LETTUCE WRAPS. I go to Bite for lunch at least 3 times a month with friends. It’s nice because you can talk there even though the tables and chairs are close; they are not THAT close. The food has been consistently yummy until… THE LETTUCE WRAPS!! I LOVE lettuce wraps and they help me control my ever-expanding waistline, so I ordered them at a recent lunch at Bite. I was served a plate with: 1. lettuce 2. chicken pieces 3. whole peanuts, 4. julienne carrots, and 5. a side of soy sauce. Huh? Lettuce wraps should have a delicious almost creamy peanut sauce (allergic to peanuts? Don’t order lettuce wraps.) on the side with bits of peanuts, soy sauce, and some ginger for flavor. The chicken pieces were huge. They should be 1/4 the size. A couple of pieces of chicken took up an entire piece of lettuce and there was no way to be a lady biting into that! Whole peanuts? What am I supposed to do with those without beer? I can’t have beer at lunch if I want to remain employed. That being said, the chicken salad is fabulous; the tuna salad is superb; I have never had a salad there that I did not like (especially the corn and crab); and the service is okay. Fix those Lettuce Wraps, Chef! I’ll be back in a month or two to see how they are….
Fantastic Meal. Had dinner at Bite last night (June 30). All around great experience. Very interesting beer and wine menu. Lots of unusual beer choices. Brand new small plates menu and it was fantastic. Reccomend duck barbecue sliders, fish tacos, scallops, pork belly breakfast style dish, the Bite shrimp dish and all the deserts. Service was impeccable, and its a cool room.
Great food. Great location. I was at the Federal Courthouse in Norfolk and ready for lunch. I’d heard about Bite Restaurant and I saw it was right across the street. I walked over, looked at the menu and had a hard time deciding what to order–it all looked so good. I chose a salad and sandwich and enjoyed the food, the ambiance and felt totally relaxed and satisfied. Next time, I’ll make Bite the destination–and not the court. I’ve also heard from a lot of people that the dinner is outstanding. Mouthwatering. And memorable. Just the place I’m looking for to celebrate my birthday! And after my grandson’s graduation. And before a show at Chrysler Hall. I’m glad to hear the opened for dinner
I have had multiple fantstic experiences at Bite. My first experience was during their Wicked dinners and my entire family was blown away by the service, menu, and the quality And production of the food- not to mention all the details that went into making our evening special! I have since enjoyed 2 incredible lunches there with friends and 2 more delicious dinners.
