FIVE STARS. Crema’s chicken salad is amazing and that is an understatement. The staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is an escape for many of the people who work in Waterside. GO THERE!
No trip to Norfolk is complete unless you stop here.. I stopped in for my first visit today. (8/9/11) I was greeted by a friendly staff in this beautifully decorated corner coffee shop. After cheery greeting, my party of three all agreed we should have the daily special. The special was the perfect suggestion; the offering was Philly Cheesesteak.Cheesesteak is a sandwich that can either be all right or all wrong. Crema, does this sandwich right; very right. The bread was the perfect texture of softness married with the crust that had just the right pull and chew to it. The sweet red peppers and onions had a slight crunch to them. There were seemingly equal amounts of provolone cheese and beef. The beef was seasoned appropriately. No one ingredient stood out over another. Each ingredient blended to the ideal cheesesteak experience. The appropriately priced meal came with chips and a beverage. The meal was satisfying. However, the culinary temptresses behind the counter offered the baked treat of the day, a cupcake with Key Lime Frosting. The Key Lime frosting was enough to push all of us over the edge. The moist yellow cake found its refinement with a creamy white key lime icing with ever so tiny slivers of key lime rind. The coffee we selected was the house blend. It has an earthy smooth undertone with hints of blueberry and chocolate. If you drink coffee black it is perfect, if you add cream would be delightful. It is a coffee that really needs no sweetener. No trip to downtown will be complete without stopping here. The perfect place for the morning wakeup cup, a meal, or afternoon speciality coffee.
My Thoughts. My baby works in the building and he likes this place so that in its self says something about the cafe.
