The Best Lunch in Ghent is Caribbean. What defines the best lunch in Ghent? Is it the flavor and quality of the food? Is it the atmosphere and the dcor? Is it the staff and their attention to detail or is it the price? Most people would say it is all of these things. Fortunately, there is one restaurant in Ghent that has it all and its Caribbean!Island Krave is a laid back, spotlessly clean hidden jewel in an area little known for its fine dining. They offer the best lunch in Ghent and food that you will continue to dream about once you try it. This isnt boring fare either. The food is obviously prepared with care and the employees are there to answer all of your questions. They are warm, friendly and efficient, even during busy lunch hours.Portions are more than ample and while they do have great curry, they are a Jamaican smokehouse too so they offer the best of West Indies cuisine. Island Krave also has takeout so you can enjoy their flavorful food at the office. Try their slow-cooked savoury brown chicken stew or the subtle blend of perfect curry spice with chick peas and rice. Other notable dishes include Cocojerk with smoked chicken or pork served on a moist coconut milk bun or the fish sandwich with tender white Swai fish.Even if your appetite is small, Island Krave delivers. Order a small kraving and still enjoy their signature dishes, but in a smaller size. They also have five tantalizing flavors of wings smoked to perfection which pair perfectly with sweet potato fries for an ideal mid-day meal. Those who frequent Island Krave often comment about the value. Quality food, decent portions and an affordable price make it worth visiting regularly. If you want something different at lunch, try Island Krave for the best lunch in Ghent. Its Caribbean!10 Feb, 2015We Found The Best West Indies Food in Norfolk. Lets face it, finding the best West Indies food in Norfolk comes as a surprise. Its not really the kind of food this area is known for. Island Krave is a long way from the Caribbean, but you wouldnt know it when you taste their food.Ever since I first visited the West Indies Ive been searching for that distinct flavor and all the restaurants I tried fell short. I was beginning to think I would need to return to the islands to experience those flavors again, but I was wrong. For the best West Indies food in Norfolk, Island Krave gets it right from start to finish. The dcor is simple, but tasteful, and the staff warm and helpful. In fact, I felt like I was coming to visit a friend for dinner, not visiting a restaurant for a meal. There is a definite feeling of coming home within you walk through that door.Perhaps it was the great smells wafting out of the kitchen or the lively tunes playing in the background that brought back good memories, but I completely forgot it was a dingy, grey day outside. If I shut my eyes, I could have sworn I was closer to the Caribbean than Chesapeake Bay.My partner and I were intrigued by some of the items on the menu. Gratefully, there were the usual items like jerk chicken, but there were also signature smoked wings and a side called cocobread that we had to try. The wings were amazing and it turns out that this light, fluffy and slightly sweet bread is made with coconut milk.Following that, I tried the succulent brown chicken stew cooked on the bone. It is marinated in its own juices until the meat literally falls off the bone. I am still dreaming about that sauce. My partner is vegetarian, but that was not an issue at all. She chose curried chick peas, collard greens and sweet plantains. I tasted her dishes and they were divine.Well be coming back to Island Krave again. The food was fabulous, the service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. In fact, we noticed they offer family sized meals that we might order when we have company over one night. We cant think of anything better to warm us up and make us forget about winter than the best West Indies food in Norfolk from Island Krave.

Yummy!. Island Krave menu features exotic meat such as goat and oxtail, the fish is always fresh, the jerk chicken is a national treasure, the coco bread is indeed one of a kind. The spicy habanero mango sauce served with smoked wings is above top. The pineapple coco margarita and the stumbling islander are something of a miracle.

Waited for an hour. My date and I waited for an hour and finally just asked for a refund because we were hungry and went next door and got Chinese in 10 minutes. The owner needs to keep a closer eye on his employees. Will never go back.

Loved it!. Loved the jerk and stew chicken. I little higher priced, but worth it… They even had rum punch! Great staff and service.

Family is hard to find but you will see it in action at Island Krave. Island Krave is the most welcoming restaurants I had the pleasure of eating at in Norfolk. The best moto I heard by the waitress was I was a customer long before I worked here. Quality food combined with quality customer service with a family run business makes Island Krave my personal favorite.

Delicious food, lovely people. All the meat dishes are delicious and the vegetarian offerings are as well! The collards, plaintains, and coco bread are outrageously good. You can taste the love.

TRUELY NOT AUTHENTIC. I have had much better Caribbean food then Island Krave. The jerk chicken was not worth my wait time and chicken does not have the flavors of the Caribbean nor does the curry chicken or rice and beans. VERY DISAPPOINTING! The service was NOT welcoming or attentive, in the Caribbean Jamaicans thrive on hospitality. My friends and will not return, we will be heading to MP ISLAND CAFE for our Caribbean dining and we advise you the same.
