I really enjoyed my dinner and catching up with my supper group of dining friends. Not only was it my first visit to Island Krave but was my first time meeting Jordan, Cindy, Lindsey & Emily. The restaurant seemed a little flabbergasted that our party had showed up, and judging by the size of the place I can sorta see why. However I got the distinct vibe they either didn’t know we were coming or were just unorganized that day.We started off with a plate of mixed apps and I tried the Coco Bread and Beef Empanada. I also tried out a smoked wing. The wings were huge BTW. For my entree I selected the Jerk Chicken & Dirty Rice. It also came with two sides and I chose collards and fries. Somewhere in there an ear of corn also showed up with a BBQ sauce on it. My meal was delicious and I washed it down with an of O’Connor Red Nun.Good time. Good company. This was an excellent dinner and I’m looking forward to returning soon.

Happy Hour In Norfolk With A Caribbean FlairHappy hour in Norfolk just got a little more interesting because you can now enjoy your favorite drink in a cozy Caribbean hideaway. Whether you need a little break after the office or a relaxing place to meet up with friends, Island Krave is the perfect spot to get away from it all. This little restaurant is spotless and charming. The ambiance is inviting and the space intimate. If you need a place to sit back and unwind, this is ideal. With a little Marley in the background and a tasty drink in hand, youll soon forget about the outside world. Ask one of the helpful staff about their unique drinks and dishes or try out the rum punch. Its subtle coconut and pineapple flavors are sure to conjure up visions of the sun and sandy beaches of Montego Bay. Of course, happy hour in Norfolk wouldnt be complete without a fully stocked bar with all your usual favorites too. There is also an outstanding wine list with Island Kraves premium picks from around the globe. You will undoubtedly notice the enticing aromas wafting out of the kitchen too. After your mouth has watered for a while, order up one or two of Island Kraves small plates to snack on or dive into a full meal. You wont be disappointed. Their tasty West Indies menu offers a variety of delectable dishes including jerk chicken or pork, savory brown stew, outstanding curries and a couple of unusual vegetarian options too. Their tangy signature collards and cabbage are just one of the dishes that keep customers coming back again and again.Island Krave also features a melt in your mouth empanada appetizer nestled in either the traditional flaky crust or their own slightly sweet bread made with coconut milk. Pair this up with one of their sumptuous smoked wings in flavors like ginger mango and sweet garlic chili and youll be ready to take on the world again. Just a few hours can make the world of difference. Stop in for happy hour in Norfolk and see for yourself.

I read a lot of reviews about this place so I had to try it out. Walking up to the doors it looked to be a quiet place. It was very small on the inside, there was only one lady working the front and she greeted us with a smile. There was another older gentleman who sat at the bar and stared at us the entire time we were eating. I’m not sure if he was a part of the owning family or a regular customer. It was a little weird. A sample plate was brought out and immediately we fell in love with the Jerk, Stewed and Curry Chicken. So we ordered one of each. The jerk chicken was delicious but I would say it was more of a sweet BBQ sauce than it was a jerk sauce. I was a little disappointed with the curry chicken and the stewed chicken once it was brought out. It definitely tasted better on the sample plate than it did in our meal. The sides that accompanied our meals were all delicious. So to sum it all up. The food was pretty good, a little pricey for the small portions but still good. I would go back again if I was already in the area but I wouldn’t make a special trip for it.
