A very nice sushi bar in Ghent. Lots of vegetarian options and some interesting items (pots of stew, for instance) than you’d be hard-pressed to find on the menus of much larger Japanese restaurants. The prices run high and there are some lame affectations (much of the dining room is given up to floor seating), but you could do much worse.

Chirashi. The sushi chef made a really good presentation. But what impressed me most was the little touches; the diced vegetables, the diced fish the small chopped stuff that he put on top of the rice before he added the fish. He said he was trying to make good customers instead of quick money. Very enjoyable experience.

My favorite place. Having lived several years in Japan, I was a bit homesick when I moved here to Norfolk. I found Kotobuki, and it quickly became my new home away from home. The owner is the sweetest woman in the world, and all the staff are pleasant, attentive, and courteous. Having moved to and from the area several times, I still come back to Kotobuki and pick up conversation with everyone like an old friend. The food is consistently delicious. My favorite dishes include Okinawa Soba, Katsu-don, Goya Champon, and of course the fresh sushi! !

We stopped in here (my boyfriend and I) because we had a groupon. It was well worth it. The atmosphere is so inviting and everyone is so polite… Everything was clean. The food was amazing. We tried specialty sushi and it was very good. I had the chicken teriyaki dinner and it was delicious, it’s a 3 course meal and definitely worth the price. We loved Kotobuki and will surely be back.

Average. If you want to ask for service and wait an incredibly long time for your food then go here. Sat down at 745, was waited on at 815, received our food at 930! and they close at 10!!! The sushi was nothing special, the krab was hard and the fish was warm. Incredibly small rolls that wernt wrapped very well… save yourself the trip and go to hokkaido downtown instead.
