The food was excellent! A very fun menu with a twist on the norm. With that being said, there was a long wait that seemed unnecessary due to the amount of open tables at the time. The staff was hard to find other than the greeters to let us know there was a long wait :-/ The other issue was noise. Noise carries very well in the restaurant and creates a very loud atmosphere.

Very disappointed. Let me start by saying that the food was pretty good. Here is the reason I am rating a 2 star. I traveled to VA from CA and knowing that there is a much higher Bolivian population in VA I googled a few weeks ago Bolivian restaurant in VA and I found LunaMaya. The reason I found it in Google is because they have 2 dishes that are Bolivian. I have been excited to try Pique a lo Macho in this restaurant. I drive 20 miles from my hotel to the restaurant and I order Pique a lo Macho. I ask the waitress how authentic is this dish, she tells me is right on. I get this dish that does not look anything like Pique a lo Macho. (it did not taste it either) I am born in Bolivia and my favorite dish is Pique a lo Macbo. I know that there are variations to a dish, but at what point do you change a dish so much that is no longer that dish. If you grab a flower tortilla and you add cheese and ham that is a quesadilla, if you add marinara sauce does it then become a pizza??? No having the same ingredients do no make a dish. In this case the ingredients where not even cooked the same way. Pique a lo macho is meat that is cooked in beer, and is poured in top of a bed of French Fries, in top you add tomatoes, chile manzano (locoto) you can add a few other meats, like tripe, and chorizo, etc. you put some raw thin sliced onions and some mustard on top. the meat is really juicy and it impregnates everything else with that flavor and juice. What I got instead was some spicy potato that was boiled and diced, some grilled onions, coleslaw and a strip of steak. I was extremely disappointed. Calling this dish Bolivian Flavor dish could be a stretch, but then I would have not have the expectations of eating pique a lo macho. The dish was very good, but it was not even close to being pique a lo macho.I understand that the owners are Bolivian, I would suggest they visit Cochabamba and try a pique a lo macho and then come back and change the dish. If they want to let the rest of the world experience this exquisite dish (pique a lo macho) then let the world experience the real deal!Arturo Vargas

Another go to restaurant where you know it will be exceptional!. What is not to love about Luna Maya, it’s consistently wonderful. Tamales luna maya is a wonderful dish, you need to try it either as an appetizer or main entree. Atmosphere is fun and lively. They have a very reasonable happy hour and the mango mojitos are beyond yummy. This is another restaurant where you go because you know the food is consistently top notch. It’s always consistent in their taste and presentation of all dishes and drinks.

Great atmosphere, mediocre food.. It’s a weird combination between sweet Southern and Spanish. I got the tamale which was made with a super sweet cornbread and then filled with spicy meat. It was an interesting mix, but not in a good way. The atmosphere is really cool which is the only redemption it has.

Delicious! Great food, great atmosphere, excellent service and amazing mango margaritas! The guacamole was very fresh and plenty of vegetarian options!

Delicious. I’ve been going to Luna Maya for the last 7 years and it never disappoints. The homemade sangria is delicious. I always get the carne asada burrito. In all these years, the flavor is consistent and always as delicious as the last time. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff is friendly. Prices are good.
