Food not very fresh and my drink was frozen solid. Ok for lunch if you’re desperate
Machismo not like it used to be. I am a long time customer and have always been very happy with the quality of the food, the portions, and the service. My visit today was not as good. The chicken was very dry and there was a chicken bone in my burrito. Additionally, the service was not as professional or as friendly as it used to be.
Worst Burrito Bar. I ordered delivery for the first time and the guy on the phone asked if I would tip more than the normal delivery fee before I even started my order. I work on Plume St so it literally is around the corner. I ordered the chicken bowl and it arrived cold and there were hard chunks of gristle in the chicken. The chips were stale and round yellow corn tortillas that you could buy in a store. The queso was bland and watery and on top of this the delivery guy tried to walk away with my $20 on a $13 order. He acted like he had no change to give me and was digging in his pocket for a few minutes. I just asked for $3 back so I can pay for parking. C’mon Norfolk, we need better than this!
NEEDS REVAMPING. This Machismo really needs to revamp the food so it has some flavor. I ordred the side of queso and it looked and tasted like evaporated milk right from the can. (Actually, evaporated milk is thcker!) there was no flavor, no spices and no chiles in it. The guacamole was OK but overpowered by the garlic. I really used to enjoy the food, but will refrain in the future even though it is just around the corner.
Downhill. This place used to be the jam. It’s gone downhill a lot over the years. The burritos used to be killer – but now I would MUCH rather eat Moe’s over this. I usually like to support local spots – but this isn’t going to be one of them.
What happened?. Machismo used to be THE place as far as burrito bars go. This last visit was so disappointing. Not fresh, not flavorful like it used to be. What gives?
My visit was very disappointing. So much so I don’t see myself going back. We have been enjoying there food for years but it has gone downhill. And it was a steep hill. The guacamole was mostly salsa, way to thin. There was barely a trace of avocado.
