I booked a reservation for a party of 15 a week and a half in advance to celebrate a friends birthday. The only thing I was told when booking was that it was Restaurant Week. I arrived about 4:45pm on Friday, January 19th, my friends and I enjoyed a few drinks at the bar. Great experience at the bar. Our table wasnt ready so we waited. No problem. Once the table area was ready we sat down a little after 5. We continued to enjoy our drinks and our friends. The evening started out great. Our servers Meghan and Cat were AWESOME. we received our first two courses of our meal after 6 pm. Rachel, the General Manager started helping to clear the table. She was rude and told us we had a two hour time limit. Not once when I made the reservation did anyone say anything about a time limit when eating at a restaurant. Rachel tapped her wrist as if to hurry along the guests. She spoke very rudely to our guests. We had some guests arrive late. She proceeded to tell them if they were going to order they had to eat at the bar. At this point we had not even received our desserts. Rachel stated the time limit was their policy. At no point could she produce the policy in writing. Her behavior continued to be rude and disrespectful throughout the evening to the point we had to speak with another manager and ask for to not return to the table. This was my first time at this restaurant. I chose this place out of 5 other restaurants and I regret it. Customer Service is more important than the food. At no point did Rachel take responsibility for her behavior. She is the reason why I will not go back and she is the reason why I will let everyone know about the customer service she provided.
My husband took me there for my birthday. It was our first time and over all it was amazing. The restaurant was clean, cozy and inviting. We went about 7pm on a Thursday and there were about 4 or 5 tables full. The staff was very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. The food portions were very generous and we had lots to take home. The wait time for the food was only about ten minutes as well. The seafood was cooked to perfection. The only reason why we gave it a 4.5 was the desert. I ordered a chocolate cake with ice cream. It was good but I noticed there was a spice in it that I could taste over the chocolate. When the waitress came back she asked if I like it. I said yes. She said good I was worried you wouldn’t like it because they just told me it has pumpkin in it. ( now what if I was allergic to pumpkin) That was my only concern but I would definitely go back again!
Sammie Clark. My companions and I ate at the Norfolk seafood Co. one day during the 2015 MEAC basketball tournament in Norfolk and we thought the food was great. I am originally from the Hampton Roads area but for the last 34 years I have lived in the Baltimore Maryland area so I am accustom to good seafood and to me the Norfolk seafood Co. ranks with the big boys.
Fell in love on valentines.. I dined here on a frigid and windy valentines, the valet saved my life. Inside this seemingly quaint restaurant on a Norfolk side street opens up to a warm and vibrant galley. I arrived 15 minutes before my reservation and was seated soon after. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. The atmosphere was good an enough to impress but not so frou-frou where you’d feel out of place in casual digs.I’m not big on seafood (my date is) but the Oysters Rockefeller were amazing. They looked divine and tasted better; they were fresh and plump, heavy on the acouterments. I had the She-crab soup, I cannot stress this enough when I say this is a must have! We liked it so much we had to try it twice, ordering two to-go bowls. We ordered the Surf & Turf and the seafood Jambalaya. Both were picture-perfect and tasted adequate. This isn’t to say they were lacking but our apps were so good. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly as ordered (medium-rare). My Jambalaya was well seasoned with large portions of andouille sasuage, shrimp and lump crab meat. If you’re a meat-lover like myself you cant go wrong here. I also had a slice of Key Lime pie which looked amazing but tasted lacking. Dinner ended with a rose. Note to self return, soon.
Food was good. We went for restaurant week. Jambalaya was great. Steak was cooked perfectly. Surf and turf was a little deceiving, the seafood was a fingernail size piece of crawfish. Nice atmosphere. Service was lacking, as others have said. The bill was wrong, make sure you look at it. Large selection of beers and wines. We will try again.
TREMENDOUS PLACE!. This review will be short and sweet. Hands down one of the best destinations for good eats in Hampton Roads. This place has off the charts service. The venue is gorgeous, and the Food is the Superstar. Fresh cooked perfectly, tasty, delicious and FABULOUS! What a great place. Do yourself a favor and go here… RIGHT NOW! Seriously, what a wonderful place. Excellent Job Norfolk Seafood Company! I will be back again and again.
Disappointed again.. I like the ides of this place. Good atmosphere, lousy service by good looking people. Some good food. The happy hour could be good if the service could keep up with demand.
