Steak and football. What more can I say? Good food and atmosphere. The game is on everywhere but feels and taste like a reputable steakhouse. Not the best NY Strip Ive ever had but it was perfect medium and tasty. Will come back more often
Great food and service. I like this restaurant, sure it is a bit on the pricey side but the food is very good and the staff are superb – well mannered, helpful and know their job. I have had a difficult time finding a decent steak in Hampton Roads but Shula’s has been near perfect. A welcome change from the usual Norfolk dining scene which generally offers average service and food at first class prices.
The BLT. I’m not a big fan of sports bars but this place has one of the best BLT’s ever
Just okay. Before making a reservation , I read a portion of a glowing review from a man, with his wife at his side, stating how they had a magical evening at Shula’s 347. When my husband asked me where I wanted to have dinner, it wasn’t my first choice. On the limited menu were items we prepare at home often. But I was confident that the beef would be delicious, and he had mentioned the restaurant just last week, wanting to check it out, so Shula’s it was. But probably not again, at least for dinner. Firstly, it is a Sports Bar. Football memorabilia and TVs everywhere. As we entered, one of the hostesses had her back to us the entire time, yap-yap-yapping about her personal business. Very unprofessional. And the rest rooms are just past the front door. That was weird. Three levels for dining make expediting orders difficult, particularly on the upper deck, where we were seated. Our server was very pleasant , but he didn’t offer the prices for the specials. Always a no-no. The wine list was pretty good, but the beer selection not so much. I then watched as our server, the only one designated to the upper level, given table after table, without enough time to provide any of us with quality service. He did have some other staff running some orders out, but he wasn’t able to get his groove back. Our entrees were delivered while we were still enjoying our appetizers (big pet peeve), beverages weren’t refilled, after dinner coffee or tea weren’t offered, getting dessert took too long, as did getting our bill paid. And then there was the family who brought their infants. Really??? While we were exiting the restaurant, that talkative hostess was still at it. Yes, the beef was delicious. But if there is a next time, I will go for a hamburger at lunch time. And ask for a booth on the main level or sit at the bar.
Blown Away!. Walking in, I was kind of intimidated because I was wearing a T-shirt, jeans & shell toe sneakers, but my mate assured me that it was cool. Greeted by a friendly host, I felt better about my attire when I wasn’t looked down upon. We were afforded the opportunity to dine upstairs which we took full advantage of. Upon arriving at our table, we were met by an attentive & generous server [Torry] who would later take care of every single one of our wants with kindness & urgency. We started out with the She Crab Soup & Buffalo Shrimp & OMG was it OUT OF THIS WORLD. The She Crab Soup was phenomenal & rivals Woody McGee’s Barstro’s as my favorite in Hampton Roads. It was so good that I could have eaten it cold for a dessert. Filled with a liberal amount of crab [no matter where you put your spoon in the bowl] & a hint of sherry, it was to die for. Next we took on the gargantuan Barbecue Shrimp that were wrapped in Bacon, stuffed with Basil & smothered in a Barbecue Sauce that had the perfect accompanying tang to it. Hands-down, some of the best Shrimp I have ever had [& I grew up on seafood on the Gulf Coast of Florida]. Both appetizers are a must if you go there . . . You will not be disappointed. Next up, I had the French Onion Burger which was topped with crumbled croutons, caramelized onions & melted gruyere cheese atop a pretzel roll. The beef itself was delicious & cooked perfectly. Each bite was as good as the next. The cheese had an abundant taste that meshed well with the croutons & onions. The whole burger was pure quality & worth every penny. I seldom devour an entire burger, but due to the taste of this thing, I did [not due to the lack of size; its pretty big]. To finish off our meal, we had the Carrot Cake & the Chocolate Mousse Cake. The Carrot Cake was drizzled with a caramel glaze that made each bite divine. The Chocolate Mousse was garnished with a Raspberry Glaze that I was able to add to each bite. The Chocolate & Raspberry went together so well, that I wish they would have put it on the cake itself; not just dripped on each side. All in all, two outstanding desserts that left us stuffed. Shula’s 347 hit the mark in all aspects of what you want from a restaurant. I never would have expected the service, taste & presentation from a chain restaurant. I don’t understand why the reviews on Shula’s 347 are so few & the ‘like it’ voting percentage is so low. I was thoroughly impressed with the service, the presentation, the ambiance, portion & most importantly, the taste. Though I only had their burgers, I am dying to find out what they can do with their Signature Entres or their Steaks. If you haven’t given them a chance, do so; you will not be disappointed. Truly a spectacular dining experience!
Horrid. This place is absolutely terrible. Shula himself needs to revoke this franchise. The steaks are of comparable quality to Applebees but they charge you prices like you are at Morton’s. The service is never good. The salads always look and taste day old and the dining area is always filthy. I cannot believe anybody would write a positive review about this place. I am in awe that it has been in business as long as it has. You get a better meal around the corner and down the street at Outback than you do here and i think Outback it not worthy to feed my dog!I am so glad I am blessed with truly great steakhouses at home.
Great relaxed Sports Bar w/semi-upscale feel. My best friend and I went here right after Beerfest. We started with these little blackened steak bites which came with two types of dipping sauce. Very good! Then I ordered the steak with fries and broccoli. The steak was prepared to perfection. Excellent meal. My friend ordered the pecan crusted salmon with mashed potatoes. Again, very good. We actually cut our stuff in half and shared it. The atmosphere was excellent and the service was top notch. They have a pretty decent wine list as well. Then the following day, they called to follow up and simply ask if my experience was good.
