From the second you walk in to Zeke’s, you know you are in for a treat; the coffee smells like heaven, there’s mellow music playing, local art on display, and the dim lighting, makes for an atmosphere so relaxing you just want to stay. I had a Cold Brew coffee (on tap) black and the Cali Pita. There’s really no other way to drink the Cold Brew. The flavor of the bean is so good you don’t want to ruin it with any additives. Let’s get this straight- you may pay a $1 more than your average chain, but you are getting a true coffee experience from a barista who actually knows their coffee. The pitas are LOADED. The Cali has grilled tuna (fresh, not that garbage in a can) seaweed salad, crab, masago, avocado, cucumbers and it’s topped with a house sauce. It looks great and tastes better. Clean, refreshing seaweed salad and cucumber adds a nice contrast to the hearty tuna, and it gives it a textural lift. The crab is imitation, which I’m not a huge fan of, but combined with the other ingredients it fits. I topped off the meal with a fresh juice. I chose the watermelon juice; not too much to describe here…100% fresh watermelon, juiced and poured in a cup with no added sugars; it is so simple it’s stunning. Total price came in at $20 including tip. Zeke’s has my vote for best coffee shop in the area.
$9.25 for two coffees (not frilly either). Stopped in for coffee and while the little patio area in the back was nice and Nick, one of the partners, was nice, we felt the coffee was a bit over priced ($9.25 for two coffees). And no, they were not mochas, lattes, or any other frilly type coffees. We will go back to try their bowls but may have to indulge the coffee only occasionally or our wallets will be upset.
