This places has some really good specials but the food was average. I love Pad Thai but the pad Thai I got here was very different. It didn’t have bean sprouts or any egg and was loaded with broccoli. The flavor was okay just not what I was expecting or wanted.
Don’t bother. On our bi-annual drive from Alabama to NY & drove an hour too long to have dinner at Gillie’s, where we had a good experiences last time. Saw this place while parking the car & decided we’d really love some Thai. Because of the time change, it was 8:30 by the time we got there. The waitress was new & hadn’t been educated in any of the dishes. They have no kids menu. The food is overpriced. It took over 1/2 to get any food with no attention or service in the interim. We practically gnawed our arms off waiting. I got one of the house specials, which was a basil & brown sauce based dish, but the basil was so cooked down as to be almost indistinguishable from the sauce & had no flavor. It was basically an onion dish & rather uninteresting. My wife got the pad thai, which was pretty mediocre. It was a fair amount of food, which I regret because I was so hungry from the wait I ate my kids’ leftovers & regretted it. The waitress had suggested we could get the chicken, beef, tofu combined for the same price when my wife had puzzled over which to get, but when the bill came an extra dollar had been tacked onto each plate. When I asked about it, the proprietor tried to make me feel dumb for not knowing that it always costs more for such combos. She accepted responsibility for not training the waitress sufficiently but seemed to be trying to argue with me & resist fixing our bill. She did relent when I pointblank asked them to fix it, but don’t you know you’re not supposed to try to make your clients feel dumb when they’ve been mislead & accidentally overcharged? Do you want people to come back. I wish we’d gone to Gillie’s.
