The best Thai food in Blacksburg hands down. This place is always packed at lunch and has some of the best meals for great prices. The pad see ew is the best I have ever had and I would highly recommend ordering it!

I tried to edit my earlier review w/ an update. Seemed to have deleted both it & the update.Update: heat of the same item from visit to visit and quality has stabilized since my earlier comments. They have also added some more dishes. Overall very good.

Can be Hit or Miss. Mekong is a great little place. The food is usually good, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is usually on their game. However, the food has been a little iffy the past few times I’ve gone in there. If you like your food REALLY spicy (Thai Hot), then make sure you are *very* clear about that up front and more than once. I’ve gotten what I would consider to be less than mild on at least the past few visits.

Cafe Mekong. The restaurant is relatively new and clean. The garlic fried rice is disgusting, bland other than the super strong flavor of garlic, a failed culinary experiment. I will probably return to try the Pho and Pad Thai though.

I guess I’m just spoiled by Thai restaurants in DC and Charlottesville. The selection is very limited ( no Krapow, no Tom yum soup). Settled for the Panamg Curry chicken which was basically flavorless, soupy, and otherwise ‘off’.

Pho Sho!. OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!!!Thank you so much for opening your doors in Blacksburg!!The food is delicious. The people are friendly. The service is fast. And the wait is long but well worth it.

Finally, SE Asian food in SW Virginia. (There is another Vietnamese place out in the country, but I can never get to it, so……)My son and I stopped in for lunch after voting and found ourselves to be the first ones in. That didn’t last long as people began pouring in and filling up the tiny dining room. I would estimate that it sits 50 people total (too bad they couldn’t go with bench-style long tables like you find at many Asian noodle houses, but you don’t want to culture shock SWVAns too much too fast). Speaking of shock, it amazed me to see all the straight-looking white people sucking down tripe and tendons, but one taste and you will be, too. I have been waiting for a good bowl of pho and resigned myself to a very expensive plane ride in order to get one, but not anymore. An enormous bowl of brisket, tendon, tripe, noodles, green onions and rich broth comes piping hot, with a plate of sprouts, basil, corriander, green chilies and a lime wedge, about 2-3 mins after ordering whether or not the DR is full. That was true of most of the current menu, which has been paired down from their full opening menu for whatever reason. Baby steps, it’s a brand new place. Lunch offers special prices on three curries, pad thai, and thai fried rice – either $7 or $8. The portions are substantial and, like I said, fast to the table. All in all, possibly the best lunch for around $10 anywhere in town. We will be returning to try everything. Hell I might even get a job there as long as I can get paid in pho. Thanks to the people at Oasis World Market for bringing this jem to Blacksburg. Keep up the good work and hope to see that expanded menu soon.
