Worst bar in Blacksburg. This is one of the only bars in blacksburg where the staff don’t have your back. If you leave your stuff alone for 10 minutes it will be stolen and the bar staff will just shrug their shoulders and tell you to to fu** off. Avoid this bar at all costs unless you are traveling without any valuables….
Buff Chili. The Buffalo (meat) Chili is the Best kept secret in all of Downtown Blacksburg.
Disgrace to Hokies. This place used to be great 10 years ago. Now the staff seems to have lost the concept of service, and to the contrary are rude, abrasive, and seemingly incompetent. Not only are the bartenders not familiar with the beers they have on their own taps, but staff in general acts as if the patrons exist for their convenience rather than the other way around; and this all while dealing with no exceptionally large crowd. (I have in my past tended bar, waited tables, and managed restaurants in Blacksburg, and elsewhere so I am not speaking without sympathy or understanding of the challenges a bar staff faces). No silverware provided. Wait to order was long. Wait to receive food was long. And staff exhibited indifference towards correcting mistakes in the order they delivered.Food was tolerable (though not delivered as ordered). Beer Selection is still broad (only good think I can say about it now). Atmosphere is unchanged in the last decade, but seems to be deteriorating over time as no improvements to the bar seem to have been made. Bathrooms are disgusting. Tables falling apart.I’m embarrassed I brought guests to this place to show them the highlights of Blacksburg. Instead we all agreed this was one of the worst dining/drinking experiences we have had in any location.
Chicken tacos and hefewiezen. I like the food here and they do have one of the best authentic german hefewiezen’s on tap. I wish they had more wait staff though to take orders at the tables instead of at the bar. Overall not bad. Recommend the chicken tacos.
I had a delicious tostada burger which I highly recommend. The service was not great though, it took forever to order and our burgers took a while to get even though the place was not busy.
Absolutely love it.. The mill is easily my favorite place to eat in blacksburg. the atmosphere is extremely laid back and the bartenders(there are no servers) are some of the best people i’ve intereacted with regularly at a restaurant i don’t currently work at. the fryer is 100% vegetarian and they offer several different veggie burgers, appetizers, and soups. don’t hear me wrong though, there is plently for you meat eaters as that is the majority of the menu. i highly recommed the veggie tacos (best refried beans i’ve ever had) and hear the bbq chicken tacos are also unbeatable.
