I have to give credit where it’s due. I am from western ny, where Italians and pizza are prevalent. My family the Santora’s opened up the very first pizzeria in buffalo ny in 1927. My father was raised in the Santora’s pizzeria on transit road in buffalo. When I moved to VA I quickly realized that there was not much in the way of Italian cuisine, let alone many Italians at all. When I first stepped foot into Anna’s it seemed all too familiar. I saw a little Italian lady behind the counter preparing a pie and immediately knew this was the place. I was more than satisfied with my pizza. Everything I have ever ordered there was delicious. The homemade meatballs are amazing and the atmosphere is friendly and has a strong family vibe. Every time I go to Anna’s I am reminded of my heritage and the amazing history of my family coming to the US. Anna’s is hands down the best Italian food in Charlottesville. Many thanks to the family who brought this wonderful cuisine from Italy to Charlottesville!
Italian?. Friendly staff, empty room, but great food, although not all foods it was not italian. Cold pizza.
Favorite. This has been my favorite restaurant since I was very little. We used to go here whenever we went to UVA game and at a point in my life, I went here every Sunday. Always sit next to the jukebox. Never had a bad pizza here!
Great take out. If you’re yearning for good traditional pizza, Anna’s is the spot. It’s not fancy, and the word artisan does not appear on the take away men. It’s just good pizza.
Gritty atmosphere, slow service, but tasty food and absolutely perfect crust–wow.
