Not worth it, seriously. This place wants to be great but falls short. I’ve eaten here for brunch multiple times and will not go back unless there are some significant changes. The main issue: the incredibly limited, uninteresting and overpriced menu. Take for instance my last meal choice: Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on plain ol’ bread, that honestly falls short of anything Bodo’s, or even myself could throw haphazardly together in my own kitchen. And for $12! And no, there are no sides with this 12 buck mediocre a la carte sandwich. You want a side? Well too bad, because the sides are… bacon, eggs, and more bread. The things already on your sandwich. Fruit? Nope. Potatoes? Nah. Salad?? Psshhhaw. Not to mention you need a reservation for this unimaginative $12 sandwich, even if you show up at 11am on the dot, when the restaurant opens and there are literally, and I mean literally, NO other patrons in the restaurant and the entire time you eat your mediocre sandwich, there are at least 15 tables open while you sit at the bar with your disappointing brunch. Come on dudes. It’s such a great location, and I am so terribly disappointed.
Best in C’ville. Highly recommend the chef’s tasting menu. Harrison has a fondness for pork and complimentary southern foods. My wife, being a Yankee, doesn’t…and he has totally won her over. She will even eat his Lima beans if he has chosen to serve them. We never ask, just look forward to whatever we are given…presented with!So unfortunate that they don’t have an outdoor seating area for the summer months yet, then the food might not be served at the perfect temp!
Creme de la Creme!!. So my girlfriend and I traveled all the way from Richmond (about an hour away) because we heard HOW good this place was and because we are total food dorks!! This restaurant not only is amazing but its 85% locally sourced and completely original in so many ways. The music was great, the staff was incredible, and the food was a one of a kind deliciousness. We had 3 courses each comprised of 6 different things and all of them were spectacular and reasonably priced. The staff that was made up of local college students were wonderful as well. Everyone seemed like they were apart of such an awesome team/family, and were proud to work there. You can tell that the chef/creator of this restaurant really loves what he does and makes sure that every dish that leaves the kitchen is perfect. I would recommend you try…everything.
Fantastic!. Went here during Restaurant Week and had a wonderful experience. The menu was heavy on the pork, which was no problem because the Chef knew how to use it. I had the Turnip, Potato and Bacon soup, Pork Belly with Apples, Onions and Arugula, and Bacon Ice Cream with Bacon Brittle and Maple Whipped Cream. What can I say, bacon in all three courses equals a winner in my book. Everything was delicous, (especially the grilled pork belly) and at the end of the meal the Chef came out to personally thank every table for coming in. I will definitely be coming back again!
New locally-sourced restaurant but a small selection. Great new restaurant all sourced with local ingredients. The only downfall is that there are very few menu choices and none include a vegetarian option, or at least not as of September. But, if you like meat, especially pork, you can’t go wrong here. Innovative, reasonably priced, locally sourced and surprisingly large serving sizes. For more check out http://wannabeafoodcritic.blogspot.com/2011/02/brookville-charlottesville.html
This is my favorite restaurant in Cville!!!!
Local and Delicious!. My sister and I went to Brookville recently and couldn’t have been more impressed with both the quality of the food and the beautiful setting of the restaurant. The chef has a policy of using locally grown and raised food so his menu changes often, which I see as a plus as it ensures you’re getting the best of seasonal food. Brookville is located at the top of the Downtown Mall near the Omni. It’s where the Upstairs used to be and is on the upper level of the mall so you get a great view while you eat. Also, at the entrance there is a charming area with couches and cookbooks to browse at your leisure. My sister had the crab and watermelon salad as a starter and chicken salad sandwich and she loved them. I stole bites of each and the sweetness of the watermelon really complimented the crab while the chicken salad was delicious. I had the zucchini fritata which was bursting with wonderful flavors without overpowering the basic ingredients. I also had the steak which was cooked to per-fec-tion! Another plus is that the chef includes creative and unusual touches to his menu like Mexican Coke(Coca-cola with real sugar) or a burger with bacon already in the patty. I can’t wait to get back there to see what will be on the menu next!
