Disappointed. I’m a foodie, in my early 30’s, and have hit almost all of the highly recommended restaurants in Cville. I was most excited about Brookville. I had looked online and picked out my order, but the actual menu was far less interesting and had far less options. There were 4 main dishes: burger, vegetable stew, chicken & waffles and roasted chicken. My husband got the waffles, which he liked. I was less than impressed but I also lived in New Orleans for two years, so they didn’t compare. I got roasted chicken and it was bland and similar to what I would make at home. The worst thing was that the side was a basic small salad that was comprised 80% of croutons. My dish was $35 and was worth maybe $10. I was so upset that I nearly left out of sheer anger and disappointment. The drinks and service were good. That kept me sane. I’ve never ate such subpar food at a restaurant designed for fine dining quality food. They are set up to be a great restaurant, but fall very short. If you’re debating, I recommend going to C&O for similar atmosphere, good drinks, good service but Excellent food. Almost anywhere on the downtown mall beats this. I’m sad to say that I would not recommend Brookville.
Overpriced and inflexible. While some of the food is not bad, it is very overpriced for what you get. An average person with a salad, entree, wine and desert will spend over $60 with tip. – that’s one person. For a $7 desert I got one slice of bread with a little ice cream as a desert. My wife had finished a glass of wine and wanted a little more, but not a whole glass. Asked if they would sell her half a glass. They said they could charge her the full $10 and only give her half. We declined. There is nothing that prevents a restaurant from serving their customers a half glass of wine – specially if they already had a full glass – clearly customer service is not the main focus here.
