We came to Citizen Burger Bar in a solemn mood, having walked on Heather Heyer road. However, this place truly has some great food to lift the spirits, and the staff is very friendly, very collegial. They have a large beer selection & the burgers are to die for.
Excellent! Everything was delicious. The burger was flavorful and perfectly cooked. One of the best burgers I’ve had anywhere! The truffle fries were a great accent. Large beer selection. Service was great too. Sitting out on the mall was very pleasant. I have no complaints. This place isn’t cheap, but when you consider that the beef is grass-fed (healthier fat profile with increased omega 3s) and everything is locally sourced, I think it’s worth it.
Really, really enjoyed this place. Came after a UVA football game and had a great meal. The food was delicious, lots of different beers available (over 100), some cool mixed drinks. Service was friendly. Had some nice outdoor seating available. Would definitely recommend if in town.
Probably the best burger place in town! Burgers are always fresh, juicy and delightful. Fries are great and I love that they offer Tabasco sauce on the tables as a condiment. Make sure you give yourself enough time to wait to be seated (it can take up to 45 mins). I prefer sitting outside on the mall area instead of the dark, loud inside, but if that’s your thing you’ll enjoy it. Food is worth the time and $$$
My favorite burger in town. I love everything on the menu including the sides, burgers, and vegetarian options. You can design your own burgers. They have Tillamook cheddar, which is delicious. The beet burger is very tasty and filling, and the grilled cheese is delicious. They have several beers on tap, which they switch out often. It’s so busy because it’s one of the best restaurants on the downtown mall, so prepare for a long wait. They will text you when there’s a spot available, so you can walk around. They have always texted us before their estimated time.
Great burgers. Lots of screens over the bar. The Steakburger was one.of the best hamburgers I’ve ever had. Choice of indoor or outdoor in good weather. Highly recommended for burgers.
Great atmosphere. Food pretty good. Burger was not amazing but still pretty good. Waiter added 18% tip and never told us. Also, couple snide comments by other waiters.
