ig Bistro is a complete surprise. We were pleasantly welcomed and discovered that the Menu is focused on New Orleans type food. It is all done very well. My jambalaya was excellent and my wife’s dish was equally fine. While dining we had an opportunity to chat with Anya, one of the owners who was extremely pleasant and willing to talk about the restaurant and how it got to where it was. I would not hesitate to send diners to this establishment.
Fig is one of my favorite spots on the corner for an affordable dinner out with friends. To start, their menu variety is great for large groups as they are very accommodating for special dietary needs. One of the best things about their selection is the amount of gluten free and vegetarian options available, which is not typical for UVA corner options. Definitely try the jambalaya, it’s a gluten free dish, perfect if you are in the mood for warm comfort food. I would definitely recommend Fig for a date night for college kids on a budget. I went with a friend and they had several smaller tables set up for a more intimate and cozy experience. Also, if you go on a Friday night, they have an awesome drink deal of $5 glasses of homemade sangria garnished with a rose petal. So cute and fun!
