Excellent food and service – would absolutely go back again. Calamari, carne asada fries, and Gibson burrito were fantastic. And the margaritas made for a fun night of celebrating a friend’s birthday.
Fun Gourmet Latin Food. We stopped in for a late night dinner and everything we had was fantastic. Cute, fun and great eats. Nice enclosed (in winter) outdoor seating too. Great place just off the downtown mall on Water Street. Easy parking across the street.
Good food, but inconsistent service. We miss the Cuban press, but love the burritos. Bring a designated driver if you plan to have a margarita or two. They are deceptively strong.
A Little Much. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. However, the service was extremely slow most likely due to the included 20% gratuity that was automatically included. I did enjoy the feel of the restaurant; very Charlottesvillian, though, my overall experience-looking back on it-was marred in part by the poor service. I really enjoyed the few meat courses they had to offer. The bread was delicious, but I only received one roll. Maybe I missed that the restaurant was on the upper end of fancy, or thought it was on a higher level of formality it wasn’t. It was definitely semi-formal, but I felt like my party’s treatment wasn’t making par. I personally thought for the level of food that was put on the table was not equaled in the service at this restaurant. Ergo, if you have the patience, I’d highly recommend Mono Loco, the food was worth my waiting, but the price wasn’t worth the wait and the poor service.
Off the main walking st by one block, yummy margs, good calamari and open face shrimp qusadilla. Chips were stale, salsas were great.
Interesting ideas…. The burritos all look really good but for whatever reason they weren’t all that impressive taste wise. They also cut them in half when we were there which seemed to just make it more difficult to eat. The service was pretty slow as well. They have siracha and different kinds of hot sauce on the table which is a big plus for me – as well as starr hill beer.
