The only thing fast in this restaurant was the automatic paper towel dispenser. It took two hours for us to get our food/ check when there were only three other tables. Staff was incredibly flustered for such a low number of customers. Meal came out incorrect- a meat based meal given to a vegetarian. Overall a big mess.

Yum!. My friend and I had lunch there and we very much enjoyed the experience! The service was good, the staff was very polite. The food was tasty, well seasoned, and hot when it arrived at the table. The portion size was good and i even took some home. The ginger peanut dressing for the salads was very nice, not overpowering. The soup was rich and hearty. The pad Thai was yummy! Definitely going to eat here again!

Pad Thai? More Like Bad Thai. Went here with high expectations after great reviews and a lot of recommendations but unfortunately I had a terrible experience and will not be returning anytime soon. It took 2 hours before we saw our food and they only brought two dishes out at a time so there was a 20 minute interval between when the first and last person there got their food. We all ended up eating at different times so that the food didn’t get cold while waiting for everyone. The service was awful and our waitress seemed to cater to every other table except ours…particularly the tables with customers of Asian ethnicity. We were a little upset by the fact that we felt that our service was of less quality due to our race. There was no excuse for the quality of our service and unfortunately we won’t be dining here again

Lived in Thailand for a year. Best Thai food since I left Thailand. Northern &southern Thai food on menu. Eat something besides pad Thai, people.

New favorite Thai place. For price, variety, and flavor, this is my new favorite Thai in Charlottesville. Most entrees are $8-$10, and most (sizable) appetizers $4-6. Two people can easily eat for $30, or less. I’ve eaten here three times so far, and each has been a very enjoyable experience. (You do, however, have to ask for chopsticks–they won’t bring them out with dinner otherwise.)Outside looks a little neglected and ‘dumpy’ during the winter, but the inside is warm and cozy. It’s a converted home with warm paint tones, friendly art, and overall a great ambiance — especially in the back, bar room. Even on a Friday night, this place is waaay less busy than it should be. If you want good food away from the crowd, Monsoon is a good option. The boba or ‘bubble tea’ is good. I slightly prefer the tapioca used by Cafe 88, but the Thai Tea flavor is delicious. For an appetizer, the fresh roll is a must: stuffed full of avocado, and served with a peanut sauce that’s thicker and sweeter than most I’ve had–an interesting twist.I’m largely vegetarian, so I usually get tofu with my entrees, but I’ve tried a bite or two of my friends’ beef and chicken dishes, and been impressed with the quality of the meat for the price. Very tender, sliced and cooked just so.Also worth nothing, this place recently reopened under a new name and new management (Monsoon Siam instead of just Monsoon). I talked with one of the managers, and she said the previous incarnation (which I haven’t eaten at) was more of an Asian fusion, but the current establishment focuses more on authentic Thai preparations. That is to say, things have probably changed (and improved) since the prior reviews.

Solid Thai. I had green curry with tofu balls. It was my first time eating tofu balls — they were big and made with onions and herbs, then fried. The dish was tasty and super spicy. A good amount of vegetables and not too heavy. He had Panang curry with pork. He liked it just fine. Our calamari appetizer was nicely fried and came with a good sweet chili sauce. the rings were big and tender. The staff was friendly and attentive, but the waitress was kind of weird about the seating. When we got there only one other pair was dining, but she tried to seat us right next to them in the corner. We declined, but by the time we left that entire area at the front was packed, when there were free tables elsewhere. It made us laugh. We liked the atmosphere. Food was good and hit the spot. We definitely would go back. For two entrees, a shared app, a soda and a Thai iced tea, the total with tax was $31.

Pad thai was awful! Don’t eat here if you like flavor. Close to no veggies with the dry, pasty noodles. Also over priced.
