Had dinner on a Friday evening. Food was OK, nothing special. Service was spotty at best. Asked if we wanted bread but none brought by the waitress. Asked another waiter and it arrived immediately. When bolognaise pasta dish served no offer of parmesan but when a second request made it came immediately.
Nice atmosphere and decent food however the price was way too high.Chicken parm $21 and veal parm $24. While those prices could be justified in some cases, the quality of what came out was more of a $14 plate, not too mention those prices did not even include a salad or soup. Service was also lacking however the wait staff seemed to be split between the outdoor and indoor guests (instead of one dedicated inside waitress) so while they were clearly working hard, those of us inside tended to be ignored.
Meh. Some restaurants still try hard even when due to locale, they don’t have to. Then there’s this place. A must miss.
My husband and I visited this place for a birthday lunch. We were immediately drawn in by their beautiful display of lunch soup, I believe it was a quiche and sandwhich. Our waitress was the best we’ve had in ages. Not only was she polite but also knowledgable on items we asked about. I ordered the homemade ravioli filled with spinach and artichoke and drizzled in a beautiful pink lady sauce. It was as authentic as when I visited Venice and tasted the local foods there. The only bad thing was that the only wine offered was a table wine (Walnut Grove I believe). I would have liked to be offered a more expensive glass by a local winery. Maybe it’s not Italian, but a wonderful King Family or Pollak wine would have paired beautifully with my dish. Either way, I cannot wait to make the drive from Richmond once again to eat the wonderful food here.
