Went for Valentine’s dinner. Arrived a little early (15 minutes) for seating. Was say next to kitchen door in empty restaurant. Ordered food. Tables that arrived after us received food and left before our entrees arrived. We were forgotten. Did not receive any compensation. Food was mediocre. Wine was good. Will never return.

Shameful. I do not mine bad service, I do not mine so so food and sub bar ingredients. Usually when it does happen I just do not come back. But I do mine rotten food, especially when the owner is behind the stove. He either has a lack of integrity or he does not respect his customers.I ordered the duck which was over cooked and very badly seared but that is ok (for me!! not for the duck), I will just not come back but what upset me is that the lentil were rotten. Beside being badly cooked, they smelled as they must have been in the refrigerator for at least 10 days. An horrible dish and I am being nice.My fiancee chose the quail. What can I say? I feel so sorry for the quails. Giving their life to be treated so badly. What a shame to overcook those birds, the Couscous that accompanied them was cooked to death, the sauce that looked like a maltaise (beurre Blanc w/orange reduction) was thick like jello because of a clumsy emulsion. Please avoid this restaurant like the plague, their are too many other chefs in Ch-ville that will respect their customers..A really, really bad place

Average. Very average place with odd atmosphere and rude waiters. After leaving a 15% tip for VERY ho hum service, we were literally followed out to the sidewalk by the waitress and asked why we hadn’t tipped more. My response was that if she’d cared half as much about us during dinner as she did about her tip now she’d have gotten 25%. Forget it, there are a lot of good places to eat in Cville and this isn’t one of them.

THIS is how to learn about wine. What a great experience we had (in October 09). The atmosphere in Tastings is bistro-friendly. The owner, Bill Curtis, who is an often quoted on wines, was on hand to answer questions about the three wines we selected. He’s most always there. My date had whites, I had the reds. Curtis knows his stuff, but he’s not a snob. The food was first rate. Service was professional. We will go back.

Yum. Real food with the perfect pairing. Comfy old school feel. No pretention here.
