My husband and I met with 2 other couples for dinner here. None of us had been here before. WOW!! We’ll definitely be going back. The food was excellent, the wine was great. The service was spot on. It was a little loud but that added to the festive mood.
Best Meal in C-Ville. My wife and I have eaten at Tavola many, many times and have never had a dish that was less than stellar! Their melanzane al parmigiano (eggplant parmesan) is to die for! I also love all of their pasta dishes, particularly the carbonara and the buccatini. It is a small-ish restaurant and fills up quickly on the weekends (they don’t take reservations), so maybe consider going for an early dinner or on a weeknight for a quieter experience. We also love eating at the bar – you can watch the chefs cooking and talk with the bartender/appetizer cook. My wife and I have lived in Charlottesville for 8 years now, and this has been our favorite restaurant in town since it opened!
Disorganized seating. People waiting hovering over you while you eat. Food was raw and instead of taking responsibility they made excuses. Really disappointed after reading other good reviews. I expected much better. Would not recommend.
We were visiting Cville and went after reading reviews. The food was very unremarkable. My husband and I decided other reviews must have been after consuming wine. If you do not drink wine your choices are very limited. Water is served at room or faucet temperature. Very noisy even though it was not full. Overpriced.
Worth the wait!. Tavola’s has been on my wish list a long time and each time we went it was too busy and we were too hungry to wait. This time we just gave in and sat at the bar- which is a food bar not a drink bar. Now this added to our meal because we wanted everything we saw being prepared! We loved this place- cozy -but with the first appetizer we forgot we were so crowded in and just enjoyed every bite. We shared both dinners and apps- had clams and the cheese special of the night which was similar to mozzarella but even better for apps than squid with pasta special and pork Milanese for dinner. We had the flourless choc cake for dessert- I thought it was bland and dry but my husband loved it. He also enjoyed the wine by the glass selection since he is the only one that drinks wine. I enjoyed the coffee selection and the sparking water options too.

Excellent and fun!. Great food- don’t miss the burrata! And every entree I have had there is excellent. Also, a nice, laid back atmosphere, but busy and loud- all very appealing. Parking is a bummer, but if you can find a spot, you’ll be glad!
