Great food!. We went because a friend suggested it and we loved the food- we were taken back when we walked in by the decor but food was too good to care! I do think they need to do a little cleaning- bathroom and table tops especially. They do not always use exhaust fan and the place got pretty smoke filled before they finally turned it on but we would still go again.
Beef bulgogi for me, bibimbap for the kids. I love Korean food. Kimchi and all those little salads? They. Rock. Korean House may have a non-descript name, locale, and decor, but their soups are delicious (and huge: 3 of us shared one bowl), the food is fresh and vibrant, and the service is so attentive and friendly.
Great folks, fine food. The people in Korean House are so welcoming and so concerned that you like the food. That’s all the atmosphere I need. The food is fresh, prepared to taste, and it’s just fine tasting.
What a gem!. Finally went for the first time, and was delighted. A tiny place, and a bit of a dive, but great food, huge portions, and a really really nice, helpful, and informative server. We were first time Korean food eaters, so we asked for suggestions. We started with Tofu and vegetable dumplings, which were a little oily, but overall very nice, and served with a tangy sauce. We then had the beef burgogi, which is marinated bbq beef in a dark tangy sauce with onions and sesame seeds, that came sizzling on a metal plate. This was accompanied by 4 little side dishes of relishes: kimchi, fermented soy beans, peppers, and pickled radish (?). The bulgogi, with and without the relishes, was absolutely delicious. I’ll be craving this for some time to come. Finally, we had the kimchee soup, which is enough for two people. I think this is an acquired taste, which I haven’t yet acquired, but my husband polished off most of the bowl by himself. The prices were higher than I’d expected, but the portions were huge, and you can easily share a dish and get outta of there for a reasonable amount.I can’t believe it took me this long to try this restaurant, and I’ll have to go back soon to make up for lost time!
Love it!. This is the type of place Charlottesville desperately needs. Authentic food, authentic people. Maybe it’s a dive but it’s clean and quaintly dive-y. Food’s something to get excited about. Pricey, yes, but that’s the only downside. Then again, each main course serves 2, so go ahead & live a little.
The food never disappoints you here! One of my favorite places to eat in cville.
Love the Korean House for authentic Korean food!! I grew up with amazing food from my Korean mom and going here makes me feel like I’m home again. Great family run business and delicious food. The dolsot bibimbop is fantastic!!
