Ok. This is a good place to eat! Hubby had slamming Maryland crab cake dinner which was amazing. I sampled off his plate and got a side order of one. Food was very reasonably priced for what you received. I had shrimp and grits. While the seasoning was good on the shrimp, there was too much grit to shrimp ratio. We had beer and wine. And the meal is served with jalapeo cornbread. The total bill was just under $56 without gratuituity. We would definitely return. Great vibe in the restaurant and bar. Service was great! Go. Eat. Enjoy. Food should enhance your life. This place will.
Mac n’ Cheese & Crab cakes. My family insisted in trying the Virginian after reading reviews online. I’m so happy we did- although I live in town I haven’t ever eaten here. The Mac and cheese was AWESOME….like I stopped back by the next day to pick some up awesome. I’m glad to have found something appetizing on the corner!
This place is one of the best-kept secrets of Cville. Don’t let the corner location fool you- this place has great food. My family always asks to visit whenever they’re in town.
Wonderful service! The waiter was very knowledgable about the local beers and wines. When it turned out that my entree had something I’m allergic to, it was replaced immediately. Looking forward to my next visit.
Perfect meal!. When I visit Charlottesville and UVA, I love to go to the Virginian. It is a classic college pub with outstanding charm, atmosphere, and delicious food. The beers on tap were local to the region, which is what I like. I ordered the southern fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes and fresh steam vegetables. Everything was perfect. This was by far one of my most favorite meals. Great job!
A Good Meal!. Recently, I’ve eaten both dinner and brunch at the Virginian. I enjoyed them both. For dinner, I had the Chicken Fried Steak, and for brunch I enjoyed eggs and biscuits. Both meals were very well done and the service was good as well. Two things in particular:It’s getting too hot, but if you can enjoy brunch outside on the sidewalk, it’s great to enjoy your meal and people-watch at the same time.A good white gravy for Chicken Fried Steak is hard to come by, but the Virginian does it well. If you have a chance, you should try it!
Average bar food, good service but would l will pass it by next time for better food for my $20 per entree dinning ventures.
