Looking forward to next visit!. This was my first visit to this particular restaurant, not having eaten at Cracker Barrel chain in many years. What a pleasant and delicious lunch! My server, Pamela R, was most attentive and everyone seemed to be enjoying their job. I have fond memories of my grandmother’s dumplings and was torn between the chicken/dumplings or meat loaf (another favorite). Pamela suggested I get the meat loaf and a side of dumplings. What a great idea! Plus two other sides and breads – took home the biscuit & cornbread. Truly enjoyed a tasty lunch. This restaurant was really busy but there was no waiting for a table and the service was quick and efficient. Lovely iced tea by the way! Afterwards I visited the gift shop. Yep, definitely made some purchases there! A nice attendant offered me a basket, as I didn’t think I was going to find as many items as I did. Christmas is just around the corner. Everyone from the host to the cashier was friendly and polite. A very enjoyable visit and I’m definitely looking forward to the next one!
Should’a been better.. Meeeh… Not a great visit. As always the place was packed to the hilt but we were seated at a large table almost immediately. We had a group of about 6-7 people from work that afternoon. Some of us wanted breakfast, some lunch, and we received menus for both.I didn’t see any skillets on the breakfast menu so I decided on Chicken & Dumplings for lunch along with Fried Okra and Broccoli for my sides. My problem with the meal was that it was only lukewarm. The gravy on my C&D had settled and was almost stiff, and both the okra and broccoli were approaching room temp as well. I think the problem really was just the way they were doing things. Looking back on it, my plate was probably prepared first, however instead of bringing it out, they let it sit in the back until the other meals were ready. Then it arrived at the table second to last.I’ve gotta say that I’ve had much better meals at this location. So chalk up one loss for Cracker Barrel. I’ll wait six months and try them again.
