I like to visit Golden Corral every once in a while… Maybe once a year or something like that. It’s a buffet so you’re not going to have a 5 star restaurant super experience. That’s the way buffets are and it can be crowded like a Walmart on a payday and you just need to know that going in. On my recent visit here, which was the first one in over 10 years I enjoyed a delicious food coma inducing lunch full of Fried Chicken, Chicken & Dumplings, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Broccoli, Green Beans, a Mini Cheeseburger (Slider), Deviled Eggs, Fried Okra, Hush Puppies, and some Chocolate Ice Cream. Our friendly server took care of us with fresh drinks and cleared the table off as we all went back and forth for refills. She did a great job. Should I have done this when I have to get behind the wheel of an automobile and go back to work. Nope. But I did anyway and fought the sleep off mostly for the rest of the afternoon. Was it good. You betcha!

What is the point of having servers anymore here?. We were dissapointed that our favorite restaurant closed early so we decided to try Golden Corral because I was craving hot and fresh rolls (used to be their main attractant)…things have changed! Not for the better! We made the mistake of going in at 9– bad idea…even though they closed at 10, everyone around us was cleaning and we felt like an intrusion. We saw the 2/$20 deal which pictures a drink on its advertisement…of course drinks are extra! Ok so that aside (which is not a big deal), you now get EVERYTHING yourself from your plates to your silverware to your rolls. So why even have servers? Put a drink machine in and cut down the cost so you can make the horribly bland food cheaper??? The rolls (my previous favorite) just sit there all night and are no longer the hot fresh thing I once craved. In addition, the food was soooooo bland and disgusting and this is coming from me, the reviewer who finds the good in all! I tried the seafood cooked to order…the crabcake looks like mashed potatoes before cooked…ok, that’s fine but the guy cooking it didn’t cook it all the way through at all so it was raw inside (well mush uncooked)…I want to get sick just thinking about it. There were about 10 desserts out (a piece left of each); however, the chocolate fondue fountain was GREAT! The gospel music…not so much but the loud servers yelling to one another drowned them out:)
