Interesting lil’ place for those that are not ethnocentric!. I chose to visit this place because I had a BOGO coupon, and was in the area. I’ll share the pros and cons of my visit. All in all, I was skeptical at first, but was glad that I stayed and really enjoyed the food. I do plan on returning. Many interesting and seemingly yummy items on the menu.Cons:Pulling up to the building, it has a very ‘vintage’ look to it, and I believe that the owner also sells/services RVs from the parking lot. First impression is that the building is run down and old; so much so that we almost left after only seeing about ten tables in a small dining room area. Dimly lit, and it was pretty cold outside, and the only heat source for the dining room is a gas logs fireplace. Soft music playing was at times drowned out when the dishwasher fired up, and the TV that was on in the kitchen. Looking at the past reviews some were good ,and some were bad. This appears to be a very low volume restaurant, and as such you can expect that it WILL take longer than a chain restaurant for your food to arrive. We were the only party there and it took well over 45 minutes for food to arrive. It would not be a good place to have a business meal – the acoustics and close proximity creates an somewhat awkward silence. They serve Pepsi products (I am a fan of Coke). Effort is placed into taste of food, and not presentation. You should be ok with them not having 100% of everything on the menu in house – they were out of Alfredo noodles and we got spaghetti noodles in its place – not a big deal to us – could be an issue if you are picky. If you are going on a date and trying to impress the lady, this is not the place for you!! As long as you are not 100% ethnocentric, you will more than likely enjoy yourself. There is only one cook, and one (two at the most) wait staff. Pros:They provide a free appetizer of fries and hush-puppies, with free refills. They are shoe string like and reminded me of McDonald’s fries. This made the longer than usual wait easier to bare. Just be careful that you don’t fill up on fries before your meal arrives. Young waitress was very friendly, and apologetic for the long wait. Menu does indicate upfront that preparation time may be longer than usual. Food arrived hot, and very tasty. They make their own cocktail sauce and it has a good fresh taste. They also make a mustard sauce that is made from mayo, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. The Cole-slaw is also fresh and crispy, and **CONTAINS PEANUTS**. This was a new thing for me with the nuts in the slaw – it had a good taste, just be cautious if you have nut allergies. Crab Alfredo, and the crab stuffed shrimp both have real blue crab meat (both pictured above), not too ‘bready’ on the crab cakes. They do take cards for payments, and offer coupons if you like their facebook page. One option for dessert is key lime pie that is a hefty slice – didn’t have any room for this after the meal (ate too many fries and hush puppies).

Not meeting its potential. My wife and I ate here a couple of weeks ago. The service was very poor: it took a good half hour before anyone came over to even take our order and longer than that to get the food, but I will grant that the server was profusely apologetic later on. We started things off with an appetizer of crab cakes, which were large and stuffed with crab, not with breadcrumbs as at many seafood places. I also thought their fries, which come free at the start of the meal, were tasty–they were thin and crisp, which is how I prefer fries. However, we were quite disappointed to learn that not only did they not have any she-crab soup, they also didn’t have any salads. They were on the menu, but the server told us they didn’t have any. They obviously have crab since I had just eaten it–and the soup otherwise is mostly cream. And salad? Do they need some lettuce? I wanted to offer to make a Kroger run for them to pick up cream and some greens. Be that as it may, the food I received was pretty good. I tried the fisherman’s feast, and was pleased with the crab-stuffed shrimp (they were well-cleaned and peeled, with plenty of crab) and the bay scallops which were about as good as bay scallops can be. The tilapia was also good, if boring. Their cocktail sauce tasted fresh, and there was also some sort of fresh tomato-onion salsa type thing on the plate too; it was a bit too spicy for me but my wife was a fan. Crab Creek Restaurant was pathetic in dictionary sense of the word: it made me feel pity and sadness. How bad must the restaurant management be if they can’t afford cream and lettuce? If they stepped things up and fixed some of their glaring issues, I think this place could be a regular haunt for me, but until that happens I can’t imagine returning. That’s sad, because Christiansburg desperately needs some more non-chain places to eat.

Best Crab Cakes. Crab cakes here taste like crab and the servings are generous. The coleslaw is also special, with bits of apple in it. I recently had the she crab soup for the first time and it was very flavorful and rich with lots of crab meat. The atmosphere is causal and I am comfortable as a solo dinner — pretty rare. The background music is perfect. I eat here a couple of times a month and recommend it.

Worst food ever!. My husband and I recently had dinner at The Crab Creek Seafood Restaurant. We were a little hesitant when we walked in , but decided to stay. There was only one waitress so service was a little slow. After waiting for what seemed like forever our food arrived. My husband had the Fisherman s Platter I ordered the broiled scallops in lemon butter served over pasta. What i received was a bowl of what could only be described as dishwater with broken up pasta( which was very difficult to eat) and very small sea scallops. I did eat some because I was hungry. It had no flavor and I was very dissappointed. My husbands dish was good ,even though the salmon was over cooked. This would not be a place I would recommend to anyone visiting Christiansburg.

Crab Creek. I go there weekly, and have rarely been even slightly disappointed.I usually get broiled salmon or tuna filet, and it’s nice. The salads are always crisp, using varietal greens. The homemade coleslaw is the best ever. The ‘automatic’ appetizer of fries and hush-puppies are good.Always fresh, very good, fairly priced, great service.

STAY AWAY. My fiance and myself went here because we had a coupon to go there. It was the worst seafood we have ever had. I don’t remember the last time we went to a restaurant and didnt finish our meals. The crab legs were empty and tasted like rubber, and the scallops were fake and tasteless. We heard complaints from other tables as well as they left the restaurant. However, it is a nice quiet place with decent music.

Pleasantly surprised. Looks like a hole in the wall, but the food is EXCELLENT. The service was friendly, the wait was a bit long but having owned a low volume restaurant it didn’t bother me too much. The home made chips and crab dip are DELICIOUS. We ordered the Scallops Hampton and Crab Stuffed Shrimp, delicious also. Unpretentious, casual, low key. GREAT FOOD at a very reasonable price. We will be going back.
