Best BBQ in NRV. Rather reminiscent of Texas BBQ i.e. the sauce is an add-on for smoked pork — not cooked in.Have a number of different sauces.NC sauce is not true Eastern NC style, but more vinegary than typical Western NC.
Worst BBQ ever!!. After reading reviews on multiple sites, my wife and I decided to try this place. What a mistake! This was the worst BBQ either of us had ever eaten. The homemade sauce was terrible. I can’t believe I wasted money on this. We will never go back.
Amazing ribs and pulled pork.
Local to me…. Awesome.(Period) 🙂
Good cue and great sides!. Good pulled pork and a great selection of sides, which is a rare combination. Normally you find either great meat, or great sides, never the two together. Prices are also great and it has a very friendly atmosphere. If you are in the area, it is worth the stop.
Yum. I called Due South to ask if they knew what gluten-free menu items there were and the woman who answered the phone went through basically the whole menu with me, even explaining a few things along the way. My husband picked up some to go and brought it home and wow! We had sweet tea, pulled pork, smokey taters, and fried apples and everything was really good. We tried one of each of their sauces and loved every one. The Hot Red sauce was really good and we are going to be taking a friend there soon so we have an excuse to buy some of it (they have it canned in Ball jars!).
Decent BBQ. I had a half rack of ribs. They were back ribs, had a nice smoke, and properly pink. They came with their sweet brown sauce. They were decent, slightly dry, and did not fall off the bone. The taste, however, was good. The slaw was not particularly good–almost no vinegar and could have used a pinch of salt. That said, the pork BBQ sandwich was pretty good. You have a choice of 5 sauces. Their hot red was the best and good at that; I wished that had been on my ribs. The yellow sauce (a Georgia style sauce was decent). Sides included fried green tomatoes were worth trying. [Mac-n-cheese daughter report: The mac-n-cheese is very family friendly, and any kid would love it. It seemed to be cheddar cheese, and was melted well, although I’ve had better. I rate the mac-n-cheese 6.8 out of 10 stars.]Overall: decent BBQ and a great pink catering truck. Go ahead and stop by.
