The Summit Restaurant was very delicious and I enjoyed it a lot! The food was great, the service was good and the prices are not that bad. This is a good restaurant if you want a more fancy place to eat and the price reflects that. The restaurant itself was very unique and the decor was awesome and it was very pretty. Overall I enjoyed it a lot and i would recommend this restaurant to a friend
Over promised and under delivered. Over priced for below average food. Service standard below most chain restaurants. We ended up leaving and feeling that the whole thing was a scam. Will never go back. Save your money!
The summit was absolutely terrible. First It took 2 hrs to get our food. The salads were gross, we could’ve gotten a better one at ruby Tuesdays. My mother was served raw lamb, and everything else was gross. The truth is it’s a big scam, don’t go pay so much for a lousy dinner.
Ugh. I travel on a full time basis around the continent. I have wanted to try the Summit for awhile and finally had the chance during some time home. The Oysters Rockefeller was passable, but my scallop and portobello mushroom pasta- forgettable. Overly laden with a bland sauce, scallops had no flavor but cooked correctly. Seriously, a plate of bland. My dinner partner ordered the crab cakes- same thing. He couldn’t taste the crab. It was there, lovely tender lumps peeking out, but the delicate flavor was buried deep in a stuffing like flavor. We opted out if dessert. Not interested after the entrees. Half of my entree was left on my plate when I asked her to clear it. The bread served was store bought- or at least seemed so. Nothing French about this establishment. Outdated, old, church decor. I love historic eaterys but the decor at the Summit ruined the historic appeal. The server was friendly, competent, and unobtrusive but, she told us this chef had been named one of the top chefs in America. Impossible. 100% impossible. I have eaten at 4/5 star restaraunts in most major cities- there is no way, no way that is possible. Unkess it was 1984. want dinner- Go to Salem- Red Rooster/Blue Apron. Or The Palisades. I know I will.
Best restaurant in the New River Valley. I love the Summit. I have been three times and each time was very good. The Stuffed Oyster appetizer s to die for. I ate duck last time and it was so tender. The times before I had salmon and filet and it was better than any other restaurant I’ve been too (from Seattle to New York). This is truly a jewel in a small town. It is not too pricey either and they have a nice wine selection. I highly recommend it…the atmosphere is very romantic.
