Best Deserts. I have been traveling all over town trying to find that perfect bakery shop and I have come across the BEST bakery ever….I always get there Carmel slices and each time I go they taste even better then last time….I travel 30 mins once a week to get my Carmel slices…..
Delicious!. Met my friend here today for lunch, my first time…so sad it took me this long to come! Yes there was a long line but it moved quickly and there was zero wait time for food, it was served to us hot at the counter as we paid. If it was warmer we could have enjoyed them outside but we squeezed into a table and chowed down. I had mincemeat and cheese and she had butter chicken. Both great and then we split a piece of coconut cream pie, heaven! If you stay to eat be prepared to share table space with the line but overall an enjoyable experience!20 Nov, 2014Coconut Cream Pie. So delicious and creamy! Best coconut cream pie I’ve ever had!
I would eat here every day.. I love coming here. They have consistently good pies. I think my favorite is the mince meat. They also do a great job with their vegetarian options, and I always grab their lentil pies when they have them. My only complaint is I wish they were open more! The 12-7 timeframe is pretty constricting, and after a hard day at work on Monday, I always want to stop by Proper Pie, but I can’t! I wish they would change it to 11-8pm; I’d be in there much more.
Poor Pies Part 2. FYI: I did finally received an email from Miss Nilki and they stated they would refund my purchase.26 Jun, 2014Poor Pies. I wish I would have read some of these reviews before going to Proper Pie for the first time. I purchased a full-size pie of apple and blueberry filling for $34. Hindsight being 20/20 I wish I would’ve tasted the pie before purchasing. The reason I purchased a pie from them just because I was looking for a blueberry pie from my father which I have a hard time finding Richmond. My father has an affinity for good food having been a dining facility manager in the US Army for 22 years. When we both tried a slice each, the flavor no way met the price. To be honest, had I sampled before I purchased, I would not have. My father equivocates the filling to be that of something called catch which he says is a cheep and poor choice substitute purchased in grocery stores. When I tried to reach a person/manager named Nikki, she would not return my calls. It is my recommendation that my family and friends not visit this store.
Banoffee Pie Heaven. When visiting Richmond for a graduation this May, we stopped at Proper Pie for a snack. It had come well recommended by a local so we thought we’d give it a try. There were 7 of us and we all ordered something different. I ordered the Banoffee Pie which was out of this world. My nephew-in-law had the Strawberry Rhubarb pie and liked it very much. I don’t think anyone was unhappy with their selection. It is a small place so don’t think that you are going to be able to sit down and relax. It is really set up for take out. There are a few small chairs and a long table along the front window with bar stools. Do not pass it up. You will love it.
I dream of Pie!. Where to begin?? First of all, it’s delicious! If you live in Richmond, eat at Proper Pie. If you visit Richmond, eat at Proper Pie. If you drive within 50 miles of Richmond, take a detour for the sole purpose of eating at Proper Pie – it’s that good!Aside from the microwaveable store-bought potpies (which totally don’t count), the first savoury pie I ate was in Zimbabwe during a holiday. It was simple, just chicken and mushroom in a thick gravy, wrapped in a fluffy pastry. My first bite my eyes were opened to the wonders of meat pies.Sad to say, when I’m in the States, there isn’t easy access to real savoury pies… that is, not until Proper Pie Company opened their doors! So far I’ve tried their:Steak & VegetablePork & AppleChicken & KumaraBroccoli & CheddarSmoked Salmon & LeekPork Chile RojoLentil & MushroomAll have been outstanding, and a few have made their way into my dreams. I have had less experience with the sweet pies and desserts, as I can’t seem to stop ordering their Banoffee Pie, which is a toffee, banana-y, graham cracker crusty pie slice of heaven.Do yourself a favor – eat a savoury pie at Proper Pie Company. Upon the first bite, the heavens will open above you, angels will descend singing sweetly, and you will be blessed with the best of luck the rest of your life. And if that doesn’t happen, at least you will have had a delicious piece of pie.
Awesome. I had heard a lot of good things about this place, but it was better than expected. We had the lamb and kumara, and a chorizo and egg pie and they were wonderful. We got a few extra’s to take home with us. Definitely the best meat pies I’ve ever had with a light and flaky crust and great fillings. We’re already wondering what flavors they’ll have tomorrow.
