On our way home from a concert at Bristow to midlothian. Stopped for lunch. Two of our party had burnt ends sandwiches, the third had pig. Sides; snaps(well seasoned), potato salad (great balance of potato and mayo and salt), mac n cheese(rich, yum). I pulled some of my sandwich filling aside to try house sauces since my sandwich needed no sauce. NC Bbq was yummy. Slaw is also included and while I was skeptical of coconut as an ingredient became a fan. It is a restaurant that’s happy family bbq but also has its own signature touches to differentiate from the crowd. If you aren’t a local it is so worth the trip. Eat here, period.

Shawn is pricing his way out of business. If you eat BBQ as much as me, which is at least twice a week then you should know good BBQ. I think Shawn’s is good but he thinks its the best and the prices and serving sizes show. It is far overpriced especially for being in culpeper. Dixie Bones and Bad to the bone are better but Willard’s in Chantilly has everyone beat. Shawns you get 1 sandwich and 1 side for 13$ and large drink another 3.50. Ridiculously small serving vs price. Willard’s you will take food home with you for less than 13$. You’ll get a pound of meat 2 sides and cornbread and drink. And its in a pricey area. Shawn’s just needs another BBQ place to open next door and they’ll lower prices or go out of business.
2 meat plater went for $11.99 two years ago now $18.99 and the portion is close to half. Only go once every 6 months now. Went today and they even cut the amount of their sides in half. Not good business. There are other options in town with more for your money.

AMAZING!!!. This place is good. I have never been to a place in Culpeper with such fast and friendly service. the food is great and the portions are filling. Our server named Esahy was so attentive, kind, and polite. It really help us enjoy our experience there and will surly be coming back! I want to try every single delicous iteam on their menu. Specially the nacho challenge!
A great BBQ restaurant!. Highly recommend Shawn’s BBQ! Fantasic pork, ribs, brisket, and chicken! The sides are created from fresh green beans cooked country style, fresh fresh fries, amazing cornbread cassarole, rich baked beans,just to name a few and even a salad is you want more veggies. Popcorn for starters for hungry kids and a kids menu. Yes I sound like I am gusing. We have becoming regulars! We LOVE BBQ so we have gone to many places this so far is the best we have found in the area! Culpeper is SO LUCKY!
