Home-made country food. The girls at our office eat here ALL THE TIME! They love the squash casserole and stuffed peppers. I get the fried chicken, beans, and scalloped potatoes. Its all home made and taste wonderful but is only your country type of dishes. Nothing fancy. Service is good but not the most accomodating. Some items on the menu are only served at certain times during the day and you cant get them any other time which is a downfall.
Best Corn Muffins on Earth. Absolutely the best corn muffins you will ever eat. Sometimes I go in there and just order a bunch of hot muffins instead of having to buy a dinner and get them as a side. They can practically fly they’re so light. The prices are great. Chicken has been overcooked, but the kitchen is usually manned by Mennonite women and, because they know what goes on in a barnyard, they like their meat cooked well. They have about 30 side dishes to choose from, all sorts of odd little things that are probably German, like the Mennonites who cook them. They run from good to fantastic. They used to have a family dinner on Sundays. You had to sign up for it (different from a reservation–if yours was the only family to sign up, sorry, Joe. They wouldn’t do it for fewer than 4 families). For $5 a person, you got all you could eat of 10 unique vegetable dishes, 3 meats, fruits, dessert, and iced tea. I’m surprised my friends and I didn’t get hernias from stuffing our stomachs so much.
