Aago is a fantastic place! Food is very fresh and delicious, even more so than Nawab. The wait staff are friendly and go above and beyond (Parth is our favorite!). My favorite dish is their goat curry, and their 3 lentil soup is amazing!
This is one of the best restaurants on the Peninsula, and the menu is different enough to set it apart from its predecessors serving similar cuisine. The Indo-Chinese menu is unique to the area as far as I’m aware. The momo soup is terrific and the portion is large enough to be a meal on its own. Lunch is a great deal. For $10, you get soup or salad, an appetizer (pakora on my most recent visit), a choice of a wide variety of entrees, naan, and kheer (rice pudding) for dessert. Hard to beat that. I just love this place and I can’t wait to try out the chili paneer. There are plenty of menu items for vegetarians as well. The staff couldn’t be more friendly, welcoming, and attentive. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, fear not. Many dishes can be spiced as much or as little as you want. The only thing I don’t like about this place is the location. It’s not visible from Jefferson Ave so it’s easy to overlook it, but it’s in the strip center next to the IHOP. Go! Give it a try!
We were so pleased to locate a wonderful small family run Indian restaurant with a superb menu in the heart of Newport News. Reservations are recommended most weekdays and always on weekends.
Superb little restaurant. This restaurant was a superb find! We simply love the food and the staff are extremely courteous and friendly. Having grown up in Brunei and Malaysia, I can say that the dishes conjured up in Aago’s kitchen compare extremely favorably to the meals cooked by my grandmother and mother. Thank you for serving such delightful food – I’m home !
New Great Addition. This is a very good resturant with great food and service. The Indian food menu is extensive, the Nepalise not quite as large but the flavors were enchanting. Best hands down mango lassI on the peninsula. A special treat! – if you don’t want hot they can accommodate that as well.
A great addition to the Peninsula dining scene. The menu Includes many dishes that you don’t see on other Indian menus. Service was attentive and knowledgeable.
Wonderful new hidden gem!. Aago is a wonderful hidden gem in Newport News. The food is authentic and on the cutting edge. While dining there it was hard to believe that a restaurant of this caliber exists on the Peninsula. The menu is complex as are the flavors in the dishes. Our waiter was the consummate professional; knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive. Aago is worth a trip to City Center. I can’t wait until our next visit!
